Unable to send Vegas Movie Studio project to Architect for burning DVD

don-h wrote on 6/2/2017, 12:46 AM

I have been successfully using Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 7.0 and was very happy with the results.  Recently I upgraded to Movie Studio Platinum 14.0, and from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  Now, I can render material but when sent to Architect, nothing happens.  Most frustrating!  I am not expert in computer technology and jargon, and have relied in the past on my 'trial and error' experience.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thought there was going to be an update to correct that?

@Noknot, that was indeed mentioned here.

Thanks, I thought I had read that somewhere. When the update is released, that should fix the problem for earlier versions also correct? I have Versions 10 and 12 that you have to manually direct to Architect Build 54.

Noknot, you should be able to still have DVD A Studio 5 installed.

At the time I upgraded to VMS 14, I uninstalled DVDA 5. I just assumed the new version of DVDA would work for previous versions of VMS. If I install DVDA 5 back, do you think that VMS 14 will then direct project to DVDA 5 automatically? I know nothing about programming, I just thought all VMS versions would basically work the same. So if a DVDA update fixed it for one version I thought it would work for all. Thanks.

It has often been advised to keep older versions installed at least for a while just for this reason, i.e. until you see that the new version works as expected. I've kept most of my old versions installed, in fact even installed them recently on the new computer. I did not install DVD A 7 (along with MVMSP 14) yet due to this known problem. ATM with MSP14 +DVDAS 5 I get the message (as expected) " DVD Architect does not appear to be installed". As Cornico said, older versions (Make Movie, Burn it..) work with the Sony DVD A S 5.

Thank you. I would still be using the older version if my computer had not crashed and as I had to reload all my programs, I thought it best to upgrade.  As there are problems with the current Architect, I attempted to reload using the original disks. and serial numbers which accompany the disks.  MSP7 caused no problems but DVDAS4 would not accept the serial number.  Is there a way around this?
