unable to start program!

I've been using Movie Studio Platinum 12 regularly for years (on a Windows 7 PC). Today suddenly it has stopped working. Each time I try to start the application I get an error message saying 'Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)'. Have tried re-installing the program from the installation disc, but makes no difference. Could this be to do with a clean-up of my hard disc yesterday? Any ideas please?

Many years ago I did a disc cleanup and it also screwed up more than one program.
One thing I do recommend you try, is a full program reset, which will delete the temporary files cache and restore all settings to defaults. I am pretty sure that re-installing the program does not clean the cache, so it's worth a try.
Do this:
Hold down the CTRL + SHIFT keys at the same time AND ALSO AT THE SAME TIME double click program icon on Desktop to Boot program.
Window will pop up.
Select Delete all Cached Application Data and then press Yes.
This will restore program to Factory Default Settings.

If that does not work, the next thing I would suggest is a "Clean Install" of all your Sony/Magix programs. A clean install means doing a deep removal of all program components first, before reinstalling program. I have instructions listed in this FAQ on my website. This is for Windows 10. If you are using a different OS, there are alternate links at bottom of my FAQ.

I think I might have fixed this. Something I found online suggested that recent versions of QuickTime could cause this problem, so I have uninstalled QuickTime and replaced it with an older version. Movie Studio has started now. Will see if it's working properly...

Seems OK so far. Can anyone tell me which is the latest version of QuickTime compatible with Movie Studio 12?
