I moved the first keyframe to the 5 second point as you have suggested but the Color remains sepia for the first 5 seconds. I must be missing something here.

Shame I can't send a screen shot to show what I mean.

Is the first keyframe set to be sepia? From your description of what you want, the first keyframe should have the effect set to null/zero. The last keyframe should be fully sepia. That way the event starts out playing without the effect until it hits the first keyframe, and then should gradually change to sepia until it gets to the second keyframe.

Chienworks is correct. Another option since there are usually more than 1 way to do things (and if it helps) is to split the clip into 2 and then only use the sepia effect on the second one.

I sure you are correct but I'm still struggling with this one. To explain what I'm doing...

1. Select FX/Event in the clip.

2. This brings up the Video Event FX dialog. Pan/Crop is automatically loaded in the chain of events.

3. I click the Plug-in chain and select Sony Sepia which now follows Pan/Crop.

4. I click Sepia and this brings up the Sony Sepia tool dialog.

5. On Color I select Animate - this loads the keyframe window.

6. I then drag the first keyframe to the 5 second point but Sepia is applied throughout the clip.

I hope my explanation makes sense. I appreciate your help.

Add 5 b. to your procedure:
On Blending strength select Animate

And then as per Chienworks posts:

You could of course also first Split at 5 secs. as Markk655 suggested.
