V14 won't edit Panasonic .m2ts video - awaiting bug fix?

HTP wrote on 3/10/2017, 4:42 AM

Just to add my own disappointment to the bug that means VMS14 won't edit .m2ts HD video files from my Panasonic camcorder.

It'll play them in the preview window, but won't import to the timeline due to there being "too many channels", i.e. 6, as 5.1 audio.

As I understand it, as a work-around, V13 will import them and saved as a project enables V14 to open them. I don't have V13, so even that absurd procedure isn't open to me.

I gather it'll be fixed in an update, without a due date.

Not good.

You could also import via the MS14 Device Explorer if the original folder structure of the files are still available.

You could also import via the MS14 Device Explorer if the original folder structure of the files are still available.

But you can only use those files in the project that imported the files. In another new project the already stored files fail again to import.

Thanks for the info. Since I have copied all my videos to my PC via HD Writer AE 5 that option would appear closed.

I'll second that feeling of disappointment regarding .m2ts files from my admittedly elderly Panasonic SR8E camera. Why on earth won't they import?? The "Add Media" section explicitly includes this filetype! If there is not a bug fix in the immediate future, I'll be requesting a refund and heading to Adobe ....

I am in the same situation. have a Sony HD camcorder that records in M2TS format. product useless without this feature. reported bug and asked for refund... no answer from Magix Support yet.

Email from Magix yesterday: "This is a known issue which will be resolved in the next update of the application, mid to late April."

Good!

Thanks for the info on the ETA of the much needed update, HTP. Meanwhile, you might edit your post and hide the name of the Magix employee to save the mods the trouble as we're not allowed to mention their names (Community Rule #9).

Hah, I just downloaded and installed a trial of v14 last night and found this same problem. I can import those files in version 11, but v14 won't accept them. Seems like a pretty basic thing that worked before, so it should have been caught in testing.

Thats one of the things I'm very curious about from the very beginning: Was it ever tested and if yess, what kind of users did test.
In my memory one of the best new versions was VPro 12 that had a public test.
Seems to me the best opportunity to become trying people as new customers.

Well coming from Edius, not having former version of Vegas, thus not being capable to import M2TS on the edit line, is just unbelievable ... If I got Cornico point you can import the files in only one project then any other attempt fails ...
