Vasst Title Strip1 & Cinima Looks 1

JBird wrote on 11/19/2012, 8:23 PM
I recieved an email offering me Title Strip 1 & Cinima Looks 1, so I downloaded them & installed. I did not see anything in my Effects or Media Generator tabs, so I read further & am told go to View/Extensions. Sure Enough the words and icons are there, but I can't move them to my effects or Media Generator tabs. They do nothing whern I click on them. Whats up? Are these real or did I just waste my time?

If you are in VP12, the extensions are hidden behind other windows. You must grab the handle and drag them forward. It's like this for all extensions, not just VASST. You can drag the extension over and dock it, but I cannot remember if it stays there. I don't think it does because I'm always dragging it over.

It has been reported to SCS and a fix is probably in the pipeline. Meanwhile it vexes us.

It's hidden behind one of the open view windows you'll havet o manually move the slider to open the controls. The video says to view the faast apps tutorial on how to access but no link.. go figure?

Thank you. I found it.
To Sony/VAAST: Hiding it is such a great idea. I have nothing better to do with my time (like edit a project) & I just LOVE hide & Seek!

Slightly off topic from the OP's question:

I too took up the free offer and downloaded both the free tools, but the apps keep prompting me for a license key. I do not recall receiving a license key with this free offer. Any ideas?

Thanks.

fan,
you should have received the serial numbers in the (order) confirmation email. As always, make sure SCS has your current email address and check that spam folder too. If they're OK, contact Customer Support.
Btw, did you use the link in the original SCS offer email?
Qualifying serial number required for free product offer.

Never mind. Found the mail. I was looking for mail from Vasst and not from Sony :-).

Hi JBird, I realize this post is a month old now but I just saw it when someone else posted and brought it to the top and since you addressed it directly to VASST, I felt it deserved a direct reply. I would love to know what we could have done better to make your experience more enjoyable because I know you have better things to do than to look for our plug-ins.

The very first thing we do is explain this to you in the ReadMe file that pops up at the end of the install (assuming you don't uncheck it and you actually read it) and placed in the Windows menu and document it in the User's Guide that we also place in the Windows menu. I am unsure of what else we could have done to better document this (that's where you come in). For you or anyone else who wants to help, here is what the ReadMe currently says (apparently there is no html tag to center on this forum so I can't reproduce the centered header):

THANK YOU for purchasing VASST Cinema Looks Version 1.0
A Command Extension for Vegas Pro and Movie Studio Platinum*

VASST Cinema Looks is a tool that will allow you to quickly and easily add the look of film and TV to your projects.

Cinema Looks is not a stand-alone program. It is a command extension that runs from the Vegas Pro or Movie Studio Platinum menu item:

View | Extensions | VASST Cinema Looks

This will bring up Cinema Looks, which is fully integrated into Vegas Pro or Movie Studio Platinum as a dockable window and may be docked alongside other Vegas Pro or Movie Studio tools.

For more information see: www.fasstapps.com
For email support mailto: support@fasstapps.com

For Vegas Pro web support visit: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowTopics.asp?ForumID=4

For Movie Studio web support visit: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowTopics.asp?ForumID=12

Once again, thank you from the VASST Team.

* Cinema Looks from VASST is for Vegas Pro 9.0a and greater or Movie Studio Platinum 12. It is not available to work with earlier versions of Vegas Pro or Movie Studio Platinum or the regular version of Movie Studio.

I think we do a pretty good job of explaining that they are command extensions and where to find them on the Vegas Pro menu. How can we word if different to make this easier for our customers? How else can we inform you of where to find them?

Thanks for your consideration and for trying our products.

The issue is with Vegas 12, not the extensions such as those offered by VASST. In Vegas 12 the extensions don't always maximize in the foreground when you invoke them.

I have my VASST extensions on my toolbar for quick access, but when I invoke them in Vegas 12, they often appear like this:

When that happens I must drag them to the foreground so that they appear like this:

It is an annoying little thing that popped up in Vegas 12. In Vegas 10 and 11, I did not have this behavior. Sort of like how Vegas 12 doesn't remember your favorites. These behaviors have been reported to SCS and presumably a fix is coming.

In the meantime, just watch for your extensions to appear behind your other windows and drag them to the foreground. Yes it's a bit annoying but it works.

Hope that helps.

Yea we've notified Sony of this problem and hopefully they are working on a solution. It seems that this was introduced when they added the ability to dock both horizontal and vertical which is new for Vegas Pro 12.0.
