.veg file error while loading

Colin-MacIsaac wrote on 4/2/2021, 7:58 AM

Hello!

I was nearly editing a video of my baby daughter, something I have been doing since she was born for my parents and parents-in-law because we have not been able to be together since the pandemic started. When opening the file to finish it and start the render, the following message popped up.

An error occurred while loading the project file colinproject.veg

The item was not found.

The file is on the internal hard drive with files on an external drive but it has never been a problem. I created a copy file and then copied all of the files to the computer as well and it has not helped.

Any help would be soooo grateful so I can show my daughter's family asap!

It does not say what item was not found? Does it go ahead and open?

What if you rename the "colinproject.veg.bak" file to another name like "colinproject2.veg". Will that one open?

I am trying to even find the .bak files now but am having troubles there too. All other projects can be opened except this one and I believe the computer was unplugged while the project was opened but I thought I had saved it before. Will there always be backup files or do they go away once I save it on my own?

I had searched for the .bak file on the computer and nothing came up so I just looked everywhere without the search and eventually found the file. Much thanks jetdv 🖖👌

The "BAK" file will always be in the same folder as the "VEG" file. They will be side by side in the project folder. Basically when you save a project, it renames the previous save to .veg.bak and then saves the new .veg. So it always helps to check the .bak file. Now as it's a "previous" save, there may be an edit or two that needs to be redone.

Current versions of VEGAS also have an auto save option. Installing Excalibur will also install my Auto Save program that will save multiple backups along the way. Auto Save and Project Inspector are free to use even if you don't purchase Excalibur. You just need to install Excalibur to install those two plugins.

Great to know. I have some projects on this computer, some on my older one and some on an external drive. I need to get those in order!

Please help!

VP18 will not run after I pushed the "power user" button, somewhere in the menu it crashed. When I try to open it, it tries to open be at the end it just flashes a white screen 4 or five times and shuts down. here is the error message.
