.veg tracks are combined when saving

I have a number of situations where I need to save a .veg file for use in succeeding productions in order to save time not having to recreate that segment of video. However, when I insert a saved .veg file into a new video, it has all of the original tracks combined into one track. I can no longer edit in one of the original tracks. Is there not a way to force Vegas to save a .veg file with all tracks as originally laid out? (Vegas Pro 12)

Right Click on the .veg file in Project Media and select...

Vegas 17 expands on this functionality by allowing you to easily to in and out of a child project that is nested inside a parent project, so you can make changes to it easily while still keeping it in its reduced size "two track" form in the parent project, which makes organizing complex projects much easier. You can also easily create child projects by highlighting the stuff you want to go into it and pressing the nest project button.
