Vegas 11 32bit no longer launches in Windows 10

I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 recently, and for two weeks everything ran fine. I have Vegas11-32bit, Vegas11-64bit both installed, along with SoundForge. They all happily worked (I use the 32bit version for when I'm doing heavy audio sessions b/c Waves plugins just work better in the 32bit application for reasons that can be found elsewhere on this forum). But now, for no apparent reason, Vegas11-32bit won't launch. You see it in the device manager momentarily, then it disappears. Sound Forge and Vegas 11 64bit launch just fine. I'm beginning to think I should never have left Windows 7.

Anybody else have info on this?

Try resetting?

Try reinstalling?

I think you should download the trial version of 17 and try your plugin there.

Did you already tried to start the program as administrator in comptability mode Windows 7?

I tried running as Admin, no luck. I tried the "check for compatibility" thing...multiple attempts there....no luck. I reinstalled 11.0/32bit, no luck there either. I have the trial of 17 loaded, and it still has the WAVES plugins issue, whereby they stutter like mad, unless you choose an audio driver other than ASIO. Frustrating. Vegas 11.0/32bit on Windows 7 was super stable for years...and years... The only reason I upgraded to Windows10 was so I could install an external video card and run Vegas 17 for video editing.

Did you do a clean installation of Windows 10, formatting your boot disk or an in-place upgrade over the existing Windows 7 system?

@john_dennis  Negative. I did an in-place upgrade over the existing 7, but like I'd said earlier, it ran great for 2 weeks before this issue started.

@JMacSTL try creating a new login account in Win10, give it admin rights, then log in as the new account and give it another try. Sometimes works when rights get scrambled by upgrades.

@Musicvid  As I'd said before, if it ain't broke don't fix it, right? I think I might be guilty of breaking my own rule. However, Vegas11/32bit has been so stable that I didn't want to leave it. Same reason I'm still running ProTools 11 (altho it's 64bit and behaves great using many WAVES plugs). Sony/Magix just has never gotten 64bit plugins from 3rd parties to work well with their software....v12, v13, v14, ....v17. How many upgrades will it take to make Vegas handle 3rd party VST plugins? This is why. I strive to be dependable and predictable to clients...none of them...NONE..wants to hear "well, my software isn't working any more....we cant work"

@Howard-Vigorita  I've logged in as ADMIN but still no luck. I'm going to do a fresh install of WIN10 since I'm no longer able to roll back to 7....or I might just do a clean install of 7 and be happy again!

I still have Windows 7 system images for all my hardware and could run them within 5 minutes and any day of the week.

Try this when you build your new Windows 7 system.

Keep it off the internet and you should be fine.
