(Vegas 14) Can't find my Nvidia RTX 3070 on settings

HugoS wrote on 11/26/2020, 5:56 PM

I am trying to setup gpu acceleration. When I go to options >preferences > Video > GPU acceleration of video processing, my GPU is not located. I don't get an option to select it. I have an RTX 3070 with Vegas 14 Steam edition (14.0 build 271) . I already tried re-installing the drivers, and even replacing them with the Nvidia studio drivers. Legacy gpu rendering is on. None of the things i've done have worked yet. I need help!

Did you try the newest studio driver (last week?) I think support for that card was just added. Try to turn off legacy GPU and see if it works- I don't have VP 14 to test myself, though (I have 15-18).

I tried both, nothing :(

There may be an issue with using old software and new hardware. Maybe someone else has tried this combination?

That's what I'm assuming. Sucks though cause I don't want to shell out an extra payment for a newer version when I already spent most of my saving on a computer. Anyways, thanks for the help!

To be honest reliable gpu management with good results started with Vegas 17. I have v13 through v18 with a 1080ti card and v13 - v16 don’t use it. Best option in my view is to spend £109 (edit) to upgrade to v18.

Going from reports here Magix still haven't fixed VP18 to work with Nvidia 3000 cards. It's been 2 1/2 months since the release of the Nvidia Rtx3080. They're doing everything they can to lose customers, it's quite extraordinary

You can always see if it works by downloading the trial of course. (With latest studio driver).

You really are a broken record of negativity. Anyway, please tell others using the 3070 that as of the latest update that card is now supported by NVIDIA's studio drivers, so it might help with Vegas.

They have to release new software, new drivers cant' help them alone. As a comparision Users of a topazLabs AI scaling and noise reduction product started complaining about their 3000 series cards not working on 20th September, Staff stated their software is not compatible on that same day, they need to release an update, and invited forum members to join an exclusive beta testing group. Towards end of October they had working beta software compatible with new cards. TopazLabs is a small company with niche software but they have succeeded where Magix hasn't

On this date, I don't believe Magix have even admitted their software is not compatible with 3000 series, which is why you are talking about upgrading drivers, an important trouble shooting step, but you wouldn't be saying that could be a possible solution if they had the curtesy to tell users their software doesn't currently work Ampere Nvidia Cards.

I already updated all my drivers, didn't fix anything.

@HugoS With vp18, your card is detected but it operates slowly (from reports) You could try the trial version. Would Magix ever fix VP14? They still sell it, so morally they should

vkmast wrote on 11/27/2020, 6:24 PM

@lenard the older versions are not available from MAGIX. You need to find reliable third party suppliers.

lenard wrote on 11/27/2020, 6:35 PM

@vkmast vp14,16,17 and 18 are available via steam. VP15 must have been a real stinker to have vanished like that

vkmast wrote on 11/27/2020, 6:37 PM

You proved my point.

I just switched to davinci resolve. They actually support my gpu, doesn't crash half of the time and is free. Thank you for your help anyways. Hopefully someone else will benefit from this discussion.

If you have been a Vegas user most of your life, I'd recommend you go straight to Resolve17 beta, they've simplified a tonne of stuff so it's more user friendly and more like Vegas, and watch this video

Resolve16 is quite a bit more difficult for a Vegas user to learn in comparision. 17 is only in beta2, so there will still be bugs to fix
