Vegas 9 Pro download vs shipped?

[ note - this is for the upgrade version ]
Is there any advantage to ordering the physical version vs the download version ?? From the description of the physical version:
"Vegas Pro (Packaged)
Includes one application DVD containing Vegas Pro software, DVD Architect Pro software, and product manuals (PDF)."
it looks like the packaged version only includes the pdf versions, not any printed media, so I don't see any advantage to the physical version (that I can't get by downloading the latest version and burning to disk). Anybody see anything I missed ??

Nope. The only time I got the packaged version was version 4.0.
Ever since then it's been the download version and I haven't missed anything.

Thanks Mike -- no point in paying $$ for an outdated CD-ROM if there are no printed manuals with it. Time to order my upgrade !!

mikey, the other thing I've noticed is that the download version is (almost) always a *.0a update while the CD is the original *.0 so you need to download the latest build anyway :-(

The other thing is that if you burn your own cd you can also put copies of receipts, confirmations, serial numbers, plugins, etc, etc, onto your disc. It's good to ave it all in one place.

I've pre-ordered the download. What I want is the printed manuals, guides, and the box. I wish I could order that. I emailed Sony about the box for V8 and they said I would get one in the mail. I love Sony Vegas, but honestly, it never came.

Will they provide a way to order the box and printed manuals with this release?

The days of printed manuals are numbered i trust, because you can learn just about everything through the Internet.

Or you can print the .pdf's if you want... Just my suggestion, to save a few bucks.. :-)

doubt it. :/

BUT... if it's like all previous version of Vegas, the packaged contains:
*disc(s)
*book containing the SN, it's a "how to" of the basic functions of vegas. Honestly, if everyone read this while on the can then 90% of all forum questions would be answered.
*complete KB+Mouse shortcut listing
*discs of any "bonus" & demo stuff.
*shipping receipt

Now.. if you get the download & check the "ship me the stuff to" box, the ONLY difference is you get the SN in e-mail vs in the book. That's it. Period. You get everything else. so you get to use the program the day you by vs waiting for it to arrive.

Once I found that out I always did digital+ship. It's ~$10 cheaper total & you get everything. I honestly say it's worth it for the book that tells you how to do basic stuff.

But will I get THE BOX this time, that is the question. I don't care about content, I just want THE BOX :)

I still have the box of a footswitch I bought in 1978.

It still looks as good, if not better.

OK, after reading everybody's response and trying to decide which of the freebe's I wanted (couldn't decide between the newbluefx sample pack and the sound studio). Ordered the boxed version with the free sound studio THEN went to newbluefx and purchased the sample pack ($49.95) so I got both (since I couldn't decide ... ). So many goodies, so little time !! :-)

Thanks for your comments folks.

You probably noticed this was a 4-year-old thread and Vegas Pro 9 is not available from SCS store any more.
If you mean the current versions, the int'l shipping costs show if you "Add to Cart" your potential purchase. Remember to "Remove" the item before you continue, if you're not ordering.

Yes, i mean the Pro 12 version.
Ok, when i go do the next page while ordering, i can see now the fedex cost.

Thanks

Newer forget when I bought and downloaded the first version and also ordered a 10$ back-up CD.
Got a bill from the government here for more than 50$ for Customs, customs handling fee, VAT on customs handling fee etc.
