Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 17 rendering issues

Tim-Boone wrote on 2/23/2022, 2:01 PM

Hi, I am editing a project on Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 17(build 143), and any time I attempt to 'render as', or go to 'make movie' and click on 'advanced settings', the program instantaneously crashes.

I'm working with:

Windows 8.1

64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G2030T @2.60GHZ

Any help or advice will be much appreciated :D Thank you in advance

VMS 17 P System Requirements

Thank you. I'm honestly a novice when it comes to both computers and editing software; I'm a filmmaker and I have been editing a passion project, and I really can't afford to lose it, and I'm wondering if you happen to know about any options I have to proceed from here? It seems, if I'm not mistaken, that the only system requirement I do not meet is that I am working on Windows 8.1. Am I able to upgrade to Windows 10 without losing the project?

On a separate note, I've wondered about PACE anti-piracy, and Avid Link, and I'm wondering if you happen to know if either of those could be interfering with my rendering problems as well?

@Tim-Boone Hi, in the system requirements @vkmast posted it says 4 core processor, online it says your G2030T @2.60GHZ is only 2 cores,

you haven't mentioned the amount of RAM or what graphics (GPU) you are using, is this a laptop,?

This info can be found if you right click on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen - Taskmanager, go to Performance, Memory is the RAM (second down under CPU) & the GPU is at the bottom,

mine says Geforce RTX 3090,

or you can right click on the Start, bottom right of the desktop screen - Device manager

Windows 8.1

@Tim-Boone As you've probably realised that's your problem as VMS17 requires Win 10. As for whether you'd loose your projects when updating Windows I don't know. Probably best to answer on a Microsoft forum.

Anyway personally I'd back up important documents to an external hard drive just in case they got lost. After update you can then copy them back.
