vegas pro 11 - missing sony avc./mvc for mp4

nanjil wrote on 12/9/2014, 6:00 AM
hello:
I am in a critical project and trying to use 1080p mp4 files in vegas 11.
I first installed vegas 11 64 bit in my windows 8.1 machine. The rendering option did not include sony mav/avc option. I had only mainconcept which is totally useless because it will always exit immediately with 'error rendering' message

Since I had seen amd used sony avc/mvc in windows 7 , I tied installing 32 bit version and aloha I was able to see and use sony avc/mvc for my rendering. I thought problem solved.

I was mistaken. software being software now I again do not see sony avc/mvc and re installing vegas did not help.

I have no mp4 rendering option with this expensive software.

Is there any solution to this?

thanx

Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing when you go to "render as"?

Hi - I'm having the same problem, googled it, and this was the first thread that popped up. Figured I'd reply here instead of starting a new one. I've had Movie Studio HD 11 installed on an older machine that I've been using for a while. "Render As" has an option for "Sony AVC/MVC (*.mp4;*.m2ts;*.avc)". I recently re-downloaded and installed Movie Studio HD 11 on a new machine. That render option is now missing entirely. Here are screenshots of the old and new Render As windows:

Note how for the second, one, I only have "Sony Perfect Clarity Audio" and "Sony Wave 64", but no "Sony AVC/MVC".

** UPDATE**: some more googling lead to this thread:

which seems to point to some weird stuff about graphics drivers being the source of the issue. I will see if I can find a solution based on some of the comments in that thread, but it's two years old, so any new information here would be appreciated.

This thread may or may not help.

Good timing - I found that thread and made the edit to my original post right as you posted this :-). Poking around that now.

Re: the mainconcept error immediately. I get that too. Turning off GPU acceleration for the mainconcept codec fixes that. Mainconcept should be set to CPU only. I forget the exact terminology, but it's pretty easy to find in the render template.

I've also had the issue where the Sony AVC codec was missing. In my case, it was an outdated video driver for the Intel graphics card on my laptop. Even though I have an add-in NVIDIA card, the on board card driver was conflicting. Updating my graphics driver fixed it for me. However, I wonder if going into the NVIDIA control panel and setting Vegas.exe to only use the NVIDIA card would also cause the Sony AVC template to reappear since that forces Vegas to ignore the Intel card altogether (supposedly).
