VEGAS Pro 15 is not loading pre-rendered 4K 120FPS video

SamJoex wrote on 12/31/2020, 2:01 AM

I got a new laptop not too long ago and transferred VEGAS Pro 15 Suite and related stuff over to it. It is on Build 416.

However, the video editor will not accept pre-rendered 4K 120FPS files on this laptop. It does on the old computer, so I'm assuming this is a settings issue. If this is the case, what must I do to enable this functionality on my laptop?

(Also please don't recommend me to lower the FPS to 60, because Tracle exists and it supports 120 FPS.)

New Laptop Specs:
[Dell G3 3500]
CPU: Intel i5-10300H

Old Desktop Specs:
[Dell XPS 8900]
CPU: Intel i7-6700
RAM: 40GB DDR4-2133

This is the error BTW:

It works with 720p 120FPS and it works with 4K 59.94FPS but not with 4K 120FPS.

Which camera records 4k120?

SamJoex wrote on 12/31/2020, 2:38 AM

I don't use cameras. I primary use images/sprites and move them around via Track Motion FX. (I also use transition effects for some battle animations.)

Anywho that doesn't answer the original question: How can I resolve the issue of VEGAS Pro not accepting 4K 120FPS videos?

No idea what you did or what the MediaInfo of that file is, but with me no problem on Vegas Pro 15 build 416. Look for yourself

You could try resetting all settings to default by holding CTRL + SHIFT and double click the shortcut to start Vegas.

SamJoex wrote on 12/31/2020, 4:32 PM

MediaInfo would be useless here as it occurs with any 4K 120FPS video file (and not just certain files). I did a fresh render of a project into 4K 120FPS, then tried adding the video file into the timeline, and it refused it. (Also keep in mind I'm not working with recorded video at all. I work predominantly with series of image files and audio files.)

The only significant under-the-hood differences I can pinpoint are the actual laptop hardware itself, the drivers thereof, or the operating system change (from Windows 7 to Windows 10).

Hi guys - I´have made a reaserch.... specifically, it is a preferences item "Enable So4 Compound reader..." it has to be "TRUE" same as for 10 bit files. (OPITIONS - hold SHIFT and click PREFERENCES - INTERNAL - So4 Compoud....) I had same issue with Sony FX3 4K 120 fps

vkmast wrote on 4/16/2021, 8:46 AM

In VEGAS Pro 17 the Internal Preferences can be accessed by holding SHIFT while clicking Options/Preferences.

In VEGAS Pro 18 holding SHIFT while clicking Options adds Internal... to the dropdown menu of Options.

(You need to do these every time you want to access Internal Prefs.)

Thanks! The problem came up again and this solution fixed it!

I had previously disabled it due to audio issues (where the first small part of the audio was cut off).

Yes Sam, small audio files, that were cut off, were my reason to disable it too :-) But with 10 bit files I had to enable it and then I found out that when I turn it off, 120 fps doesn´t work. Have a nice day.
