VEGAS PRO 16 doesn't recognize mp3 files?

hannahh wrote on 7/14/2020, 12:08 AM

Hey guys! I have just reinstalled my Vegas Pro 16 onto my brand new PC and I'm having problems with importing mp3 files. When I went to import them, I couldn't find any of my mp3 files. I searched for them and Vegas said they don't exist. I can play the mp3 files outside of Vegas Pro, but Vegas seems it can't recognize the files? I've also tried dragging the files from the file explorer to Vegas, but it's still not working. Is there any way to fix this other than converting it to WAV? Before I got this new computer, everything was working perfectly fine so I'm not sure if it's the issue with my computer or Vegas Pro itself.

Version: Vegas Pro 16 (non-pirated copy)

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2070 SUPER, Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K, MB: ASRock Z390, Ram: 32 GB

Windows 10

Hello...,

You can try resetting Vegas Pro (hold ctrl+shift while starting the application), or uninstall reinstall.

Before resetting, can you share your log file called "fileio_x64.log" which can be found in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\17.0\fileio_x64.log ?

Developers have been trying to fix this, so your input may be able to help, and if you can also reshare the fileio_x64.log after being reset, that can be a reference comparison.

Also, do you have any antivirus or any other security application installed?

I can't find the fileio_x64.log, all I see is this:

I tried resetting Vegas Pro as well as uninstalling and reinstalling, but it doesn't work.

Also no I don't have any antivirus applications installed.

You are browsing to wrong folder, not c:\users\[username]\appdata\roaming\...

but instead should be c:\users\[username]\appdata\local\VEGAS Pro\16.0\fileio_x64.log

apologize... just realized fileio_x64.log is new in VP17, and not yet available in VP16.

Quite difficult to check... anyway, a bit blind mode trial n error..

Try turn off Windows Defender, then reinstall again.
