Vegas Pro 16 Edit - Stuck on Creating video plug-in factory

Tim-Kelly wrote on 4/30/2021, 4:25 PM

I just purchased Vegas Pro 16 Edit, but after installing, the software gets stuck on "Creating video plug-in factory" and won't open up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and get the same results. I have waited over 25 minutes both times and it just stays on "Creating video plug-in factory." Thanks for your help!

Try reset delete cache (ctrl+shift while starting up VP18).

Try reset delete cache (ctrl+shift while starting up VP18).

I tried that too. No change.

When you say reset didn't work were you prompted to clear the cache, and if so did you check it? If not, try it again.

What third party plugins do you have? Consider moving them to another folder or uninstalling them temporarily.

I was prompted to clear the cache. The program then starts and still got hung up on creating video plug-in factory. I renamed what I hope are third-party plug-ins folders so VP wouldn't find them, but that still did not help. The folders listed as plug-ins are FileIO, OFX Video, Vidcap, and Video.

UPDATE: I removed all of the plug-in folders and it was able to get past the creating video plug-in factory and everything else. The loading screen disappears like the program is going to start and then nothing happens. The program closes. I tried adding each folder back in separately. The OFX Video plug-in folder appears to be the one causing the problem with the program getting hung up on creating video plug-in factory. The other folders allow the program to go through the setup, but then the program just shuts down.

@Tim-Kelly what are the specs on your machine?

You mentioned you added each folder back. Did you restart Vegas after adding one folder at a time?

Also, do you get an error window? I used to for Ignite Pro, so Vegas was stuck at loading Video FX.

Vegas then loaded properly. I then added the Ignite OFX bundle back, and it works.

After I removed the plug-ins, VP would still not start up and would remain stuck on creating video plug-in factory; however, two days later it started up completely out of nowhere. I then immediately turned off the GPU acceleration, then added the OFX Video Plug-ins one at a time, restarting VP after each folder was added. This seems to have done the trick. Everything is working fine now. Thanks for everyone's help!
