Hi Community,

i searched this topic for about an hour but couldn't find a valid solution for it. So I might ask the community.

So, after the new update for Vegas Pro 17 (Build 387), Vegas crashes on startup and faces me with this error message.

Extra Information

Problem Description
   Application Name:    VEGAS Pro
Application Version: Version 17.0 (Build 387)

Fault Process Details
   Process Path:        D:\Anwendungen\Vegas Pro 17\vegas170.exe

   Process Description: VEGAS Pro

I tried some things (none of them worked, obviously):

  • Un- and reinstall Vegas Pro 17
  • Un- and reinstall graphic card drivers (NVIDIA and on-board Intel)
  • Installed the newest version of Microsoft .NET-Framework
  • Checked for overall Windows Updates
  • Checked for corrupted system files with cmd.exe

Is anyone of you experiencing the same problems and able to help me? As I said, this problem is imminent since the new build has been dropped.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Sincerely,

Luis

EDIT: I switched to an older build of the software. Now, it doesn't crash and seems to work fine. So the problem lies in the new build.

I see that you installed Vegas not at C:/ where it in fact belongs. Special reason for to not follow Vegas own proposal?

BTW, You are not the only one with this experience with a latest build of Vegas when when not installed on C:/, look here f.i. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vms16-plat-frequent-freezing-problem--118351/#ca738940

Thank you for the quick response. I usually install programs on my other drive to keep my SSD as clean as possible. But you are right, for some programs, it is better to install them on the C:\ drive.

Anyway, I reinstalled Vegas on the C:\ drive but it still doesn't work.

The interesting thing is that after I install Vegas and enter the registration data (so the first start after the installation), the program works and I could cut some things. But when I close and re-open it, we are back at the start of the problem.

Maybe if that is the case you have to join the people of this Post with more or less the same problem and is it for the development team easier to find something common between the people who suffered this problem.
