Vegas Pro 17 doesn't handle file correctly whereas Vegas 13 does

joaomgcd wrote on 12/10/2019, 1:08 PM

I upgraded to Vegas Pro 17 recently but unfortunately now my Android video files are not correctly handled. Any way I can get it working like in Vegas Pro 13?

Thanks in advance.

Exact symptoms of my problem

Videos captured on a Galaxy S9+. Framerate is not correctly processed like in Vegas 13.

In Vegas 13 video retains a very smooth framerate after rendering.

In Vegas 17 video has a very low framerate after rendering.

I'm aware that both MediaInfo and Vegas 17 detect the file as having 5.266 FPS but nevertheless, the file works fine in Vegas 13.

Because the variable framerate is slightly 5 and a bit more I think your settings are different, special the frames that are not present and must therefore be rendered because you render to 60p and the program must make them one way or another.
That goes by the way you make (or not) the settings in properties or project for the Resample Mode .

BTW.
In VP13 is "Smart Resample" and in VP17 "Disable Resample" the default setting.

Hi. Thanks for the response.

The video may have a variable framerate of 5 fps but that's because most of the time the image doesn't change. but when the image changes, it does move at a smooth 60fps.

If you can, please download the clips and try playing them in a video player (don't play them on the Google Drive web page because they were re-rendered to 30fps there). Check out the motion at 8 seconds in the video.

You'll see a very noticeable difference between the clips that way.

Also, it's not frame interpolation at all. "Smart Resample" was disabled for both cases (V13 and V17). Also, no amount of smart interpolation would result in such a smooth video.

If you notice, V13 says the video is 100fps and thus doesn't limit itself when rendering it.

V17 says it's a 5fps video and thus limits itself to that framerate when rendering, making the 60fps parts of the video very choppy.

Thanks again

VP13 sees indeed a different amount of total frames, 4 frames more than VP17 in 17 seconds of video.
If that makes the difference during render I don't know.

Amount of frames and file properties in VP17

the same in VP13

That's very strange! This is what it shows for me in VP13! As you can see it detects it as 100fps for me!

Do you know why your version would detect it differently from mine? What plugin does it say it's using for you in the General tab in V13?

j-v wrote on 12/11/2019, 4:59 AM

I see that to are using not the latest build of VP13 545 but an older one 453.

My VP13 uses this decoder

My VPro 13 b 453 Media and General P are as with @j-v. You have "Attributes: 1080x 2220x32" in Media P.

I see! So the problem seems to be with the switch to compoundplug.dll! Thank you for the info!

Is there any way to get Vegas 17 to use mcmp4plug2.dll like my version of V13 is using? Maybe that fixes it!

Thanks for all the help!
