VEGAS PRO 20 ruined by previous versions of Vegas Pro 16, 17, 18, & 19
I'm so sorry but this is very disconcerting. I just bought Vegas Pro 20 on August 15, 2022. Regarding my computer, I have Windows 10 version 21H2 operating system on my PC. My processor is an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor 4.00 GHz and I have 64.0 GB installed RAM, I have a 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor, and the video card is an AMD Radeon 8 GB of DDR5 memory (AMD, Advance Micro Devices is the manufacturer)
Anyway, I have Vegas Pro 16, Vegas Pro 17, Vegas Pro 18, and Vegas Pro 19 installed on my computer. When Pro 18 and Pro 19 first came out, they were working out the bugs and I just stayed working with Vegas Pro 17 as my main Vegas Pro program and everything was working perfectly. I would venture into Vegas Pro 18 & 19 after the updates and did some short videos with it. It is needful to say that back when I bought Vegas Pro 15, I also purchased “the NewBlueFX-Transitions-3-Ultimate” which is one of my favorite plugins. (I am not talking about the ZOOM that comes with Vegas Pro). Inside of “NewBlueFX-Transitions-3-Ultimate” installed with Vegas Pro 16 and on up, the one plug-in that I really like is called ZOOM and I have used that for years on all my video projects and they have installed perfectly on Vegas Pro 18 & 19 with no problems.
After I installed Vegas Pro 20 on my PC on Monday, it has ruined my Vegas Pro 17, Vegas Pro 18, and Vegas Pro 19 plugins locations! Sigh! On the left-hand side of Vegas Pro 17, 18 & 19, the plugins, for example, inside of the ZOOM folder I just mentioned above are no longer the correct plugins inside of Vegas Pro 17, 18, & 19! When you go to the ZOOM folder, for example, all the plugins for that ZOOM folder are now actually in the “Shredder” folder which is not right. The plugins that are actually in the ZOOM folder right now are the plugins that are supposed to be in the WAVE folder. The plugins for the folder “Traveling Rays” are the WRONG plugins. It goes on and on like this and it’s all messed up. The folder names no longer make sense for the correct plugins because the plugins have all been switched around in the wrong folders.
The only thing that seems to be working right is Vegas Pro 20! Vegas Pro 20 has all the correct plugins inside their associated folders. I cannot use Vegas Pro 17, 18, and 19 anymore because of this mess. In addition, when I open up Vegas Pro 18, it also opens up my directory window every single time and I have to cancel out of it in order to get rid of it! That would not bother me as much as the messed-up plugins that are now currently the case.
Now, I have Vegas Pro 16, 17, 18, and 19 taking up space on my hard drive and I’m “afraid” to delete them because there may be plugins that I bought from NewBlue previously and Vegas Pro 20 might need them, especially the ones I've been using for years, and then I will have a mess on my hands.
All I did was install Vegas Pro 20 with the “Vegas Stream” (which I don’t need but wanted to see what it looked like) and also with the Sound Forge and that’s it. I did not install anything else. I had a clean install with it but look what happened.
My question is WHY did this happen? All of the previous Vegas Pro programs I have installed are now useless for me to use and, yet, I feel like I cannot uninstall Vegas 16, 17, 18, and 19, because it could cause more problems for Vegas Pro 20.
I did use Vegas Pro 20 for a project that I HAD to get out today, and the plugins are all in the proper folders as they should be. And it did render out okay. I’m just beside myself with all of these Vegas Pro programs I purchased but cannot use them anymore.
Does anyone know WHY this happened and any suggestions of what I can do about this? The only thing that I feel “safe with” at this point is to leave everything else alone and start using Vegas Pro 20 but not knowing what trouble I may face in the future even with Vegas Pro 20 because I haven’t had time to check out all the plugins. I just know that the ones I always have been using for years are in the right folders in Vegas Pro 20 that I can see. But the plugins with 16, 17, 18, & 19 are now all messed up.
I’ve been a long time customer of Vegas Pro and love the program when it’s working right. I never have any problems with any other programs installed on my computer but when it comes to Vegas Pro coming out with a new major upgrade, I have to take a deep breath because something always goes wrong.
