Vegas Pro not working as should

pioneer109 wrote on 3/30/2023, 5:12 AM

Good morning After many months of using Vegas Pro 19 I had loads of problems with getting the program to run and after contacting support on many occasions without not being able to resolve my issues. So I took the decision to reformat my SSD and reinstall Win11. I then installed Vegas Post and all seems to be working as should. However I do have a few niggles. (1) all I get is a black screen whenever I try and use Vegas capture, which used to work ok originally . (2) If I access the help menu and check for driver updates It does not work as it used to. (3) If I try and use my 2nd monitor whatever I am trying to view on the 2nd monitor come up on the first. I would like to upgrade to Pro20 but until I can resolve the issues in 19 I am reluctant to do so. O/S and Nvidia driver are both up to date. Cheers John

#1 I've found hit or miss- better to use other software for captures (OBS?)

#2 driver update broke a while ago for all of us. It works in 20.

For #3 that's just a settings issue. Go to preview device preferences and change display adapter from 1 to 2 or vice-versa.

@RogeS Ok thanks for the reply Roger, that explains the issues apart for the #3 when I change the display adapter from 1 to 2 it appears to work but I get a black screen on 2 and the program freezes. Cheers John

Hmm, that shouldn't happen. As Reyfox asked can you specify CPU and GPU. You mentioned NVIDIA. Is there also an integrated GPU on the CPU?

I've never tried Vegas Capture, but did out of curiosity. It doesn't work. I get the black screen with the system in my signature.

A different graphics card, but Win11.

I personally only update the driver if there is a specific reason to do so. If the driver I am using is working ok, why update.

As for the second monitor. I have 2 monitors. My main one is a 4K, second one is a 1080HD. If I click on the second monitor button, the Preview will appear in the 1080HD monitor, but there is spillover onto the top of the 4K monitor, and the image is not the entire Preview.. See image below.

For the spillover does the "alternate high DPI" setting help with that? Not sure if it will help with the freeze or not.

RogerS. Thanks for the tip but sadly no difference.

Glad to have helped one of you. I'm not sure Pioneer what else to do. If you're not on the current NVIDIA Studio Driver I recommend switching to it. You can get it from the NVIDIA website. I use it with both my NVIDIA GPU systems. If that also doesn't work perhaps contact official VEGAS support back up at the top of this page.

RogerS looking at my SI and the windows error reporting these two programs/modules keep appearing.........NahimicSvc64.exe and SonicStudio3. I have no idea what they are or how they crept onto my system but I am wondering if these might be causing me problems.

Re "nahimic" please see if this comment helps.

@vkmast thanks for the tip. I have only just got round to trying this. I turned nahimic off in Norton 360 and 2 of the existing problem have now been resolved. Thank you once again for the helpful suggestion. Cheers John
