Vegas Pro "Protype Titler" deserves an update

Amivideotek wrote on 12/20/2020, 9:27 AM

With this intro I wanted to give again the attention in Vegas Pro that "ProType Titler" really does not belong in the deprecated features but better deserve an update!

Look at Amivideotek wrote on 12/5/2020, 9:57 AM point 13 on this page : https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-19-feature-requests--123432/?page=6

I tried all sorts of things with other text editors in Vegas Pro as with "ProType Titler", but unfortunately I couldn't do it!

For some reason I keep gravitating back to ProType Titler. For quick setups the interface is better than the default titler. I'd be happy if they'd just put a color picker in it.

You can download free programs that do the same!
I use "Just Color Picker"

It is powerful of Protype Titler with single text motion, custom path motion, tons of keyframe curves. 😄

But it doesn't have a sync button. And can't import image to make path motion. 😂

I doubt very much that the developer of Protype Titler has resigned so that VEGAS Team can't upgrade it. 😂

pioneer109 wrote on 12/21/2020, 6:55 AM

The one thing I would like to see in Protype titler is the ability to change the colour of one word or letter within a sentence and then key frame it to another colour.

Grazie wrote on 12/21/2020, 7:31 AM

From my/our experience there will be no update to PTT.

pioneer109 wrote on 12/21/2020, 7:54 AM

Grazie Thats more or less the conclusion I had come to last year after purchasing Pro17 so purchased Blufftitler which IMHO is/was the best cost effective titler I would require.

Grazie wrote on 12/21/2020, 8:58 AM

@pioneer109 - Good for you! I’ve gone through NEWBLUE TitlerPro from V1 to the now silly V7. I’ve invested in Boris that’s got their Studio Titler, which, IMHO, is klunky and confusing. It’s been a Holy Grail mission with not a lot of wins in between.

pioneer109 wrote on 12/21/2020, 9:05 AM

@Grazie Ive got Boris Studio Titler, had it for about a couple of years but like you I found it very Klunky and confusing, I don't use it, its probably an age related problem for me.

Amivideotek wrote on 12/21/2020, 10:38 AM

When you good looking this text-anim, you can see the text growing and rotating. After a short break the text growing again. I try to to this with Boris Studio Titler, but I think this is not possible to start movements at different moments! At course every editor have its advantages and disadvantages!

But for making textanim as this, ProType Titler is very good!

@rock-c : Indeed, if ProType Titler also had to be able to animate images along a path and so on, that would be great. But for animating elements that you will find in the font Segoe UI Symbol, ProType Titler helps!
See example. These elements impact took max 10min to make.

Another advantage why ProType Titler should be updated. With Vegas Pro lacking the ability to let elements follow a path. In ProType Titler already has this function (follow path), but currently only with fonts!

@VEGASDerek @VEGASPascal 😅Should have a look at this. Vegas need upgraded ProType Titler.😂

@rock-c don't worry, the dev team is sure to consider any of your suggestions and endorsements. Ultimately it's their (and the company's) decision what's implemented though.

@vkmast Please speed up 😂. Many companies fix and upgrade tons of stuff with one month, like BMD released 5 Resolve betas within one month, Boris FX fixed hundreds of bugs and enhancements of Mocha, Sapphire, BCC within one month. Maybe VEGAS company should speed up, Vegas is not cheap after all 😅

RogerS wrote on 12/21/2020, 8:58 PM

Pretty sure they already discussed why it is deprecated and not updated. We have a better chance of seeing a different titler improved.

Amivideotek wrote on 12/22/2020, 2:25 AM

I totally agree with rock-c. They need to accelerate! I'd be really sorry if they missed the boat! Other developers don't wait and improve a lot. This is also a bit of a point by sending my wish list of improvements! I'm usually only a little happy when a new versions of Vegas Pro comes out. ...And something I've learned over the years, people who don't demand anything are happy, why change something? Only people who whine get something.😉

Just ..... people who complain all the time are soon exposed.
I prefer the constructive way of finding a solution.

In the last dev sprint (2 weeks duration) we finished 44 tasks (bugs and features). In a normal month the VEGAS development team finished 70-100 tasks. One normal bugfix could take 5 minute or a week. A new feature could take 2 weeks or 2 month. Finally, you will only see a few items on the list...

Feature list:

  • "XYZ extension" = 2-4 new XYZ features and 5-7 bugfixes related to this but boring for the user to mention
vkmast wrote on 12/22/2020, 10:24 AM

@VEGASPascal thanks for chiming in.

Btw, @rock-c I did not realise that other NLEs continue to have so many bugs. Thanks for advising of this.

rock-c wrote on 12/23/2020, 6:50 PM

@VEGASPascal Thanks for your reply, I know the dilemma of developers, but I still wish you to speed up to maintain VEGAS Pro's superiority in the market with so many neonatal and sophisticated NLEs 😂. Nowadays, many neonatal NLEs robbed much market share by means of fresh UI, abundant fx, imaginative official tutorials. like Filmora, Alight Motion, etc. 😂

And sophisticated NLEs still occupy most the industry market, but Vegas Pro lacks a lot features behind them. like multi-timeline, mature nested timeline creating, automatic reconstruction sequence, mature keyframe graph, mature dynamic link with VFX tools, etc 😂

VEGAS Pro really need to speed up 😅

VEGAS Pro really need to speed up 😅

@rock-c - Sure, but/and to do that it’ll take plenty of personnel and that takes Bottom-line re$$ources which takes decision making by the finance department on where does/should investment get spent? I’ve stayed with VegasPro because staffers were always listening to and responding where it could afford to invest in MY much loved NLE. I’ve invested both training time and purchasing of NEWBLUE TitlerPro and BORIS for their Titler. Both, IMHO, I've found wanting. The VP PTT would have had everything I’d wanted, but it wasn’t to be. Until more resources are directed to improves for VP PTT it’s a waiting game. As has been stated by the Staffer here, they have other “fish to fry” and chasing that particular outcome - good! VP PTT, like us, seems to be waiting.....

Paul-Fierlinger wrote on 12/25/2020, 12:59 PM

I just went to protype to get some work done and am finding that the formatting and simply everything I had learned to use and became proficient with has changed into something so convoluted that it has become useless to me. There is nothing user friendly to it. Am I right and if so why?

walter-i. wrote on 12/25/2020, 2:17 PM

I also think that PTT is the better titler that is available in Vegas Pro - but I don't want to state that it is "user-friendly".

Paul-Fierlinger wrote on 12/25/2020, 7:20 PM

No, but for my needs it has all the nice stuff I could hope for. Just getting it started was the worst chore but once in there everything began to make sense. I think the Help description could be a lot more descriptive.
