Vegas Studio 13 Platinum crashes

I just upgraded to V13, and when working with many short clips (100+) on the timeline, and trying to: add clips, edit, render or Make Movie, the software crashes and just sits there with no computer activity. I have to close it up with MS Program Manager.

I have a I7 processor with 16gigs of RAM. Can someone recommend Preference settings for a high end machine. Or settings which might NOT cause these crashes.

Also, any idea why th GUI changed from Version 12?

I assume you use the 64-bit version and checked the SCS KB document #4168 for suggestions. No help from there?

"Touch-enabled for touch PCs..."
Some/many of us do not like all the changes.

Still have the hanging problem. Submitted details and .VF file to tech support.

I have found that if you REBOOT the PC, dont touch the PC after start rendering (in other words, dont run any other programs), the rendering will progress much further into the 1hour dvd rendering.

So I have diagnosed my problem to Windows 7 tasks running in the background.
If no programs are running (other than Vegas) my computer will render at about 60 frames per second, without any difficulty.
While rendering, if I start Google Chrome (for example), browse the net, and then CLOSE Google Chrome, the Vegas preview screen goes BLACK, the task manager CPU goes to near zero, yet the Vegas Time remaining and Elapsed time continues as if nothing is wrong.
If I cancel out of Rendering, Vegas closed, then when restarting Vegas, the Preview box remains black (after opening the same project).
This same scenario also happens when scheduled tasks start and close while Vegas is rendering. I have informed Tech Support of this repeatable scenario.
