Version 16 hangs on Creating Windows...

Last year, my (licensed) version of Movie Studio 16 Platinum stopped opening on my Windows 10 computer, so I uninstalled it. Now I need to edit a video, so I reinstalled it. I have the same problem. When I start the program, it hangs on "creating windows". It seems that I updated to 17, but I can't find that information yet. I'll need to confirm. In any case, 18 appears to be subscription only, which I can't justify for the very few times I edit video. I'd like to get the software I purchased to work. Can anyone provide some guidance?

You could at least try if resetting would help (follow closely these instructions). You might check also the link in this comment. Also searching (Find...) "Creating windows" on the forum might give some clues. And you'll see your version and build in the software's Help menu > About, General.

Regarding Movie Studio 18 please note that it is not a VEGAS product any more. It's a different product from MAGIX. Support for it is available at the MAGIX user forum https://www.magix.info/us/video-forum/movie-edit-pro/

Magix Movie Studio 18 and Vegas products aren't subscription only. Their webpages are, in my view, misleading. They give the impression they are subscription only. But there is a drop down arrow which gives you options including New Purchase and Upgrade.

The number "365" is also added to the product description when you scroll down to purchase details which adds to the confusion.

I wonder how many potential customers might be put off by the impression the products are subscription only?

I agree that they are indeed pushing the 365 Subscription options. An indication of the changes to come maybe. But you can currently still "choose a payment plan", which does give the impression that there are other options.

Note that there is no mention of 365 or (365) "Purchasing details", if you choose New purchase or Upgrade. There is "Information regarding the upgrade" if you choose the Upgrade plan. (See the VEGAS screengrabs here. Movie Studio 18 options are similar.)
