VFX anomaly

m.hidvary wrote on 7/21/2022, 3:36 AM

A strange thing happened to me while using Vegas Pro 17. Whenever I try to add Video FX to a text media, some weird anomaly blocks the effect in a column on the left side of the screen. I have never experienced this before and trying other settings did not help. I am pretty sure it is obvious and easy to fix but now I am just frustrated.

What FX are you applying?

I forgot the name of this FX, but I remember this probably one of the FX that has it's own mask. Check the mask tab of this FX.

It's starburst. I am afraid I need a detailed explanation like a dummy, I am not sure what is the mask tab. I have realized I can put this anomaly to a whole new place on the screen using the video preview window. Excuse me for my stupidity.

Make sure you don't have "Split Screen" view turned on. It's a button above the preview window.

Damn, thank you!

jetdv wrote on 7/21/2022, 8:29 AM

@m.hidvary, if effects are not showing at all or are only showing partially on the preview, it's virtually ALWAYS that little option. It's a great option - unless you've turned it on by accident.

That just happened now. But I understand it's usefulness.

Argrggggggggggggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Split screen. How many hours did that take me - I don't want to think about it! A button clearing all settings like this would be so nice - numpty reset call it - anything. If I hadn't have paid for a years subscription to Vegas Pro I would have moved on by now. Thanks for posting this jetdv.

@Simplest2remember I guess you can mark @jetdv's reply as the "solution"

@Reyfox I'll tag @jetdv's reply as solution. David E most likely cannot as he's not the OP and the OP forgot to mark it.

@vkmast Oh... sorry about that! Thanks!
