Video and audio out of sync when importing clips from Snagit

Art_F wrote on 5/14/2019, 7:10 PM

When I captured screen video using Snagit 12.4 on my old win7 laptop, it imported to my Movie Studio Platinum 15.0 build 116 just fine.  Now when I record using my new Win10 Pro N laptop using Snagit Version 2019.1.1, I get the video and audio out of sync.

I make the screen recordings in MP4 in both versions.  How can I go about fixing this?
I have tried disabling so4compoundplug.dll, but that had no effect.

Thank you

You may want to use Mediainfo (in text view mode) to compare those that have worked in the past to those you are using now. Is the audio sampling rate the same?

Try also updating to the last build #157 of Vegas Movie Studio 15 Platinum.

@Eagle Six,
Hello, I installed Mediainfo and opened both files. Please see the image below (the top one is the video that works from the older version of Snagit, the bottom one is the video that is out of sync from the latest version of Snagit). I'm not familiar too much with the technical specs. Can you make heads or tails of it?

Hello, thank you for the link. I installed build 157 but no effect with the sync issue. It's still happening.

@Eagle Six,

I reread your post and you mentioned "in text view mode". Here are the results.

The working file:

The out of sync file:

I think I see that the audio sampling rate is the same.

Take a closer look onto the frame rates …

Yep. Variable frame rate compression often causes out of sync issues.

My tutorial discusses it and shows you what you can do about it.
