Video Deletion without Audio Deletion

I have videos from different cameras of the same event. I want to use the sound track from one camera continuously but want to replace that cameras video track in certain places with the other camera's video track over the same period of time. So, I have a number of split events and on one of the events I want to delete just the video (not audio) and replace it with the video from the other camera over the same time period of the event.

I'm unable to just highlight the video from the first camera for deletion; the sound track also wants to highlight and therefore be deleted together. Is it possible to delete just video for any event (or for that matter just audio)?

There are lots of ways to do this, but for now let's start with the simplest, if not the best overall. Select the event on the timeline, then press U to "ungroup" it. This separates the audio from the video so that they can be handled separately. Now click on the video part again to select just the video and you'll be able to delete it.

These sorts of edits are probably better handled with auto-ripple turned off.

+1 but in my experience it's vital to make sure Ripple is off.

Put it in trimmer, highlight what you want, right click and select which you want to copy sound, video or both. then you can put it in the timeline.

Just what exactly is ripple and how do you turn it on and off?

Ripple is turned on and off by using the Auto Ripple toggle.

mikep6dd,
as "Auto Ripple" was unfortunately made a bit more complicated in v13 (due to "Config") than previously, you need to read "Post-Edit Ripple" in online Help (F1) to understand the options in Advanced Edit Mode.
