Video FX not appearing in preview

burgor57 wrote on 12/21/2011, 4:31 PM
Don't know what I've done (or is it Vegas Pro 11 build 511), but I now find that video FX like colour corrector don't show in the preview window at all, but do render out. This has only just started to happen but can't see why. Does anyone know if I have accidentally changed something and can change it back? Is there a switch to disable FX from the preview window? Would seem odd if there was - but any help appreciated.

I believe this is part of the problem I described in my Post

If I close Vegas and re-open it the problem goes away.

On the top of your preview window there is a button called split screen view. One of its options is FX Bypassed. If you happen to have the button "in" and select FX Bypassed in the pull down, you don't see the Fx.

Worth a look...

Thanks. But not the same problem I think. Closing Vegas and starting again does not fix my problem. STill cannot see any FX changes in the preview window, but changes will render out. What renders out is of course a mystery, as you can't preview what the changes are going to be!
Now come on - it's either a simple setting somewhere that disables FX from the preview - or this version of Vegas sucks!
I just spend loads of valuable money on this so called upgrade from Movie Studio, and I am thinking of asking for my money back. So far I have been totally unimpressed.

burgor,
just to check, which one do you have on (see left to *Best')?

burgor57 wrote on 12/21/2011, 5:35 PM
I have it set to Select All and Best-Full.
If I set Select Right Half, then the effect is seen on the Left side of the preview window (that seems wrong way round to my mind). And if I select Left Side - you guessed it, the right side shows the FX change. If I set Select All then the FX is not displayed at all. I do think that was working as one would expect, but not any more.

I have seen there is a FX Bypassed switch on this same button/select. It seems to be permanently On - that is it has a little bullet point next to it and clicking on it does not seem to toggle it on/off. I bet this is my problem. Anyone got any thoughts on that?

Just turn off the split screen button (click on the half moons, not on the pull down arrow). Then it won't matter what is selected in the pulldown.

Fred - that's it. Fixed. Didn't realize that was a button in itself. Must have clicked on it accicentally. Odd too that it seemed to be fixed like that even opening a totally new project.
Thanks

Please note that there is also the very useful FAQs post on the forum. E.g. the solution to your issue is in the post linked to in section 37 there.

Dear all,

I face the same issue (suddenly FX disapeeared - while everything worked previously) but the split view button selection does not make any difference.

The Video FX tab or the FX selection does not apepar at all, while the already previously selected FX are still there in the tracks I worked on and are rendered properly.

However, I cannot select any other FXs since I cannot access the FX screen which looks empty white (when I select the view tab o the left - or black - when I select to view FX from the track

I uninstalled and re-installed the latest 458 build of Vegas 19 pro but nothing changed

any help is welcome

thank you

@M-Z  ... often, uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't solve Vegas Pro problems because an uninstall still leaves a lot of coding on the computer including in the registry. Instead, try resetting Vegas Pro back to its default factory settings. The following link provides guidance on how to do this - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/ - making sure to check the 'delete the cache' checkbox when it appears.
