Almost all TVs have what is called "overscan", where part of the picture is missing around the edges. Generally no one is ever aware of this until they use some sort of computer-based video editing system that shows the entire image. Had you played the video directly from your camcorder on the TV it would look exactly the same with the bottom cut off, but you never would have known the bottom was missing.

It's perfectly normal. It's just something you have to get used to. When you add titles and graphics just make sure you don't place them close to the edges of the frame.

Is there any way of getting over this or event trimming the top and adding a spacer to the bottom of my video which I have just done?

I will learn for the next one I do.
