Viewing keyframes in the timeline

Richard-Vanner wrote on 12/11/2024, 7:13 AM

I'm using Sony Vegas 18. I have a project that does show the keyframes for a track being scaled larger. When I do the same in a new project I cannot find a way to turn this feature on. I can only see the keyframes when I'm in the Pan/Crop window.

Does anyone know how I can show them in the timeline?

@Richard-Vanner

Track Motion exposes keyframes for editing along the timeline.

I have not found a setting that exposes Pan/Crop or any fX keyframes for editing along the timeline.

What about TrackFX? Also keyframes for TrackFX are visible along the timeline:

@john_dennis Thanks for replying. I don't see this icon on my interface.

Let me share a video that shows the problem I have;

@Richard-Vanner Click on the three lines at the top left on the track header, then choose Edit Visible Button Set and activate Track motion to show the button. Or go to Tools > Video > Track motion.

It is possible that the zoom in the first project in your video was made using track motion (or a suitable FX applied to the track level) and not with Pan/crop on the event, which as was indicated does not show its keyframes on the timeline.

@LdM_Edit Yes! That's the answer. Easy when you know where these things have been tidied away to. Thank you.

@3POINT is correct RE: Track level fX. Unfortunately, Pan/Crop can't be applied at the Project Media or track level. It also helps to know where Track Motion is hidden.

Weirdly it's not showing this morning! I have no idea why it would show one day and then not the next.

Is it worth updating to the latest version? I still get lots of crashes with SonyVegas - I'm always Control+S saving almost every edit.

@Richard-Vanner you're not using "Sony Vegas". Please use the correct branding of your software as shown in the link @LdM_Edit gave you.

@Richard-Vanner What is not showing? The keyframes? The track motion button?

I think it is worth upgrading to VEGAS Pro 22 (not "Sony Vegas") from 18, there's a sale right now. It seems to work better and more stable, at least that's my experience, and I use a basic laptop.
