VMS Platinum - Update 2, Build 142

Mitch-Carl wrote on 7/22/2019, 10:25 AM

I have attempted to download and run Update 2, but when it attempts to run the update, it can't find the file. I checked the path, but could not find the VMSPEUpdate.exe file. I have downloaded it 4 times but still cannot find the file. How do I check the download path to see if I can find where it is being downloaded to? The diagnostics did not find a problem. I am running Windows 10. Thanks in advance.

Did you download by hand and from where?

The "Major program update" splash screen when you open Vegas Movie 16 Platinum informs that "there is an update". See also online Help > Check for Software Updates.

Changes in Update 2 (build 142)

The first screen of the Guided Video Creator tool now autoscrolls when you move a thumbnail to a position that is not currently visible in the window

The Guided Video Creator tool now informs the user that it is processing when numerous media files have been added thus resulting in longer processing time

An alert box asks the user to confirm that they really want to leave the Guided Video Creator

Files added to the Main Storyboard timeline through the Import function now also land on the main project timeline

A new preference enables the user to disable auto detection for 360° files

Clicking the beginning edge of an event properly places the cursor at that exact frame

Adding media to the Main Timeline storyboard honors the Overlap preference for events added to the timeline

Undesired behavior when clicking the timeline ruler has been eliminated to make the behavior consistent with VEGAS Pro

Multiple Undo items are no longer undesirably added when making OFX parameter changes under certain circumstances

Files from the GoPro Hero 7 are now properly identified when added to the timeline and are no longer read as 360° files

Fixed a bug which could cause problems when adding the Video Stabilization plug-in to multiple video clips

Applying video stabilization to a still-image file no longer affects the application negatively

The Welcome screen no longer remains open behind the main application window after you select Easy Editing Modes

Missing 360° plug-ins are once again available

VEGAS Screen Capture utility has been added

Thank you for your response, FayFen. That is the path I checked previously, but could not find the file. I again checked with no luck. I also ran a search on the entire C drive, but still could not find the file. Any other ideas?

J-V: No, I was trying to let it run on its own, but it was unable to find the executable file. If I had found it, I would have tried running it manually.

At the moment see download options from inside the software. See my comment above.

Than you have to download it from your Magix account where it is now available and run it manuall if you want to do it so.

VK, thanks as always. I'd looked for the announcement links and couldn't find them. So I allowed VMS to download without allowing it to update - I want to use RevoUninstaller to install and track the process. But since VMS knows where it downloaded it and keeps asking me, I haven't found the installer. I thought I looked in all the Windoze 10 Appdata and Downloads folders. Can you tell me where that installer went by default? Thanks!

Mitch-Carl wrote on 7/22/2019, 2:48 PM

I'm not sure what happened, but after multiple attempts to get the update to run I restarted the computer. The file Magixally appeared. I was able to find the app file. I ran it and the update ran with no further issues. 😵

vkmast wrote on 7/22/2019, 2:53 PM

@robbif2 I haven't had time to install it either yet. I downloaded from the link I mentioned here and that small "download manager" file (which, "when run, will fetch a much larger (e.g. 400-450MB), main installer for the current release") is in the Downloads folder.

@robbif2 As per FayFen's post near the beginning of this thread it's at C:\Users\____\AppData\Local\Movie Studio Platinum\16.0 folder.

But my experience is that VMSPEUpdate.exe is automatically deleted once installation and activation is completed.
