VP16 not a continuous video on time line

Used VP10 for a long time with no prob. Now using 16, I have two camera videos on two time lines that I edit with. Both show segments of the videos, but not a continuous video. I don't know if I forgot to do a certain setting for it. On VP10 there was a setting for doing just the front & ending or the whole video including everything in-between.

Would the drop-down menu options in Options > Preferences > Video, "Thumbnails to show in video events" solve your problem?

I'm not familiar with version 10, I started with 12, but are you referring to Auto-Ripple? Go to Option > Ripple, there you can turn Auto-Ripple On/Off and select what you want affected by the Auto-Ripple. There is also an icon at the bottom of the Timeline display that will also turn it on/off.

With Auto-Ripple ON, if you cut and delete a section everything on the right will move to the left and fill in the blank. Same thing if you shorten either the front of an event or the end of an event, it will attempt to move everything to the right, to the left and fill in the blank area. Just a thought.

I'm familiar with auto-ripple, but that's not the issue though. I'll double check on what vkmast mentioned.

My suggestion works of course only if the OP has this

but wants this
