Further info on that product page (as Lan already showed :)

Maybe @jetdv can confirm?

jetdv wrote on 12/21/2021, 7:41 AM

@janndk, I believe it's the full Titler Pro 7 but it's a "VEGAS Pro 19" version meaning it will activate for version 19 but not 18 or 17... and probably not 20. I can certainly ask.

janndk wrote on 12/21/2021, 2:34 PM

Thanks for response, everyone. I was about to buy the pack, but when checking out it doesn't tell what you are actually buying. Only saying "Movie Expansion Pack Vol. 1, Includes: Serial numbers & download links".

vkmast wrote on 12/21/2021, 2:42 PM

Did you click the "Show more +" in the product page?

@janndk

Yes, i have seen that. It also says "ActionVFX Action Pack" in included list, but "Action VFX Action Pack 2" later in the text. Vegas has unfortunately a history of a bit too creative marketing when dealing with add ons (eg Sound Forge Pro that turned out to be a reduced version) - so i'm worried about this might be one of these cases too.

Photo_G wrote on 12/21/2021, 4:57 PM

It seems like they should provide some clarification as to whether these expansions are version locked to v19.

vkmast wrote on 12/21/2021, 5:11 PM

"VEGAS Expansion Packs - These work with all versions of VEGAS 19 and are available as a one off, use for life purchase"... Whatever that means.

lan-mLMC wrote on 12/21/2021, 5:43 PM

The reason why some old plugins (Ignite Express, Ignite Pro 4.0, HitfilmVegasBasic, etc) did not support the new Vegas (V17, V18, V19) was because Vegas 17 changed its Host ID to "com. vegascreativesoftware" from "com. sonycreativesoftware".

So, if your current plugins support Vegas 19, them can also support Vegas in the future as long as Vegas does not change its Host ID.

.

Instead, you should worry about another problem that different versions of the Boris FX plugin don't seem to be installed on the same computer at the same time. Such as Boris FX Continuum Transition Unit 2020 and Boris FX Continuum Particle Unit 2022.

jetdv wrote on 12/22/2021, 8:39 AM

@lan-mLMC, that's not always true. They can also be tied to a specific version so even if they show up, they may watermark. There's definitely multiple layers.

@janndk, my recommendation would be to look for a sale at NewBlue that has a special price on Titler. There was one recently but I've heard there may be another one soon. By purchasing the full retail version, you won't have to worry about which versions of Vegas work with it.

@jetdv That sounds a bit creepy, so it would be nice if the official team answeres this question clearly. @gary-rebholz @VEGASDerek

jetdv wrote on 12/22/2021, 8:55 AM

@lan-mLMC, That's why many bundles start watermarking in later versions. They are tied to specific versions of a product. That's the biggest danger I see with bundles - you can't always know if they're going to continue to work without a watermark in later versions. This has been getting better recently but it can still happen.

janndk wrote on 12/23/2021, 7:05 AM

I contacted Vegas/Magix support about this. They couldn't really provide any other useful information, than confirming it's "Titler 7" (not "Titler Pro 7"). Told me to contact NewBlueFX for more details.

lan-mLMC wrote on 12/23/2021, 7:36 AM

So the best way may be asking NewBlue and Boris FX which Vegas versions the plugin supports.

And whether new plugin Unit can coexist with old unit (for example, whether NewBlue Titler Pro 2021 and NewBlue Transition 2022 can be coexist, or must uninstall the old version). Similarly for example, Sapphire Transition Unit 2020 and Sapphire Render Unit 2022.

In case you get a new plug-in that does not coexist with an existing old plugin you have had.

jetdv wrote on 12/23/2021, 7:47 AM

I know there's a "Titler for VEGAS Pro 19" version which is why I don't think it will work later in 20 and know it doesn't work in 18. That's what I believe is in this package.

All installations of NewBlue products will remove the previous installation. So if you have Titler Pro 5 installed and install Titler Pro 7, you will then have Titler Pro 7 only. If you then installed Titler Pro 5 again, you would be back on Titler Pro 5. You cannot have multiple versions installed at the same time. The reason for that is so that VEGAS projects will automatically update to whatever version you have installed. So when you move from Titler Pro 5 to Titler Pro 7, you don't have to manually make changes to your project to "update" to the newer version.

Titler Pro 1 and Titler Pro 2 installed separately. We discovered it was a royal pain for people to update their projects from Titler Pro 1 to Titler Pro 2 titles on the timeline. You'd have to "save" the title, delete it from the timeline, add a new title to the timeline, and the "open" the saved title - for EVERY title in the project! So from Titler Pro 2 forward, they all replace each other so VEGAS will just automatically use the version installed.

Thanks @jetdv for elaborating on this. Merry Christmas!

Got a response from NewBlue - It is Titler Pro 7 after all, but locked to Vegas Pro.

jetdv wrote on 12/24/2021, 8:19 AM

@janndk, I was sure it was the full version. However, I still believe it will be tied to VEGAS Pro 19 only. That's why I'm suggesting you might wait and purchase the full Titler Pro direct from NewBlue which 1) Won't be tied to VEGAS only and 2) will also work with future and past versions of VEGAS.

I bought the pack already. A christmas present to myself 😃😇

Getting really upset, if it turns out that Titler only works with version 19 😡😭 I have to investigate this, and asking for a refund if it's true.

janndk wrote on 12/31/2021, 3:11 AM

Got more response from NewBlue: Titler is technically only limited to the host Vegas but not a specific version. However, they can't guarantee it will work in future versions.

Would be nice to get some comments from Vegas/Magix - other than "we don't know" 😒

Dexcon wrote on 12/31/2021, 3:41 AM

@janndk  ... what might make things a little more certain is that Vegas staff commented on the forum around the time of VP19's release that the aim was to make Vegas Pro 19 the last version of Vegas Pro. Instead of yearly new versions to introduce mew features, they're going to add new features from time-to-time - but it will still continue to be Vegas Pro 19. If I understand correctly, a new purchase/upgrade to Vegas Pro 19 will gives us 12 months of updates but that we'll need to buy another 'upgrade' for the following 12 months. Not all that dissimilar to the approach taken by FXHome and BorisFX.

Of course, Microsoft announced in 2015 (?) that Windows 10 will be the last ever edition of Windows.

@Dexcon currently we can say that VP19 perpetual version users will get all free VP19 updates..

This from 19 August 21 - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/what-happens-when-a-vegas-pro-or-post-subscription-expires--131073/#ca815926

Once the life cycle of VEGAS Pro 19 expires (expect that to be a year from now), you will stop receiving these updates and you would have to purchase the next upgrade to get them again. But you would be able to use VEGAS Pro 19 beyond that time since you own it.
