Where are Sony programs registered and can it still be done offline?

I want to get the FAQs right but I'm confused 😵

Which server are Sony Creative Software programs (e.g. Vegas Pro 12) now activated on? Sony's or Magix'?

Does the process look the same as it used to pre-Magix?

Most importantly, can old Sony-branded programs still be registered offline like this?

Yes, the activation of older SCS programs needs to be advised more clearly. I found only these recent comments:

(m2016, 02/08/2017, https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/can-t-find-my-serial-number--105471/#ca652406) "The serial numbers --- in the MAGIX Service Center are registered to your account because --- you used the product first time after Oct 25th 2016 or reinstalled it."

(SCS KB 5200, updated 02/10/2017) "Can I still activate my older Vegas, ACID, and Sound Forge products?
Older versions will be activate-able using the serial supplied when the product was purchased.
Will MAGIX allow 5 activations of serial numbers, similar to Sony's activation policy?
Yes, the license is for a single user, who can install the software on up to 5 machines before the activation would need to be reset by a MAGIX support rep.

Yess it still works that way.
Yesterday I installed and registered the last real Vegas builds of Vegas Pro 13 and VMS PL 13 on a new build clean Windows Pro 10 installation that way.

I did it only online.
