Will not render any visual data

Robert-Kilkenny wrote on 4/22/2021, 12:02 AM

I was using Vegas Pro 18.0 build 482 and editing for a video when all of a sudden the video element is no longer working. It is not a mute function, but the audio element is completely fine. I tried using the solo function on multiple tracks, and to my knowledge, I did not alter my settings for the platform (I could have used a keybind I'm not aware of). It has been working fine for a week, so I don't think it is a hardware issue, but here are my relevant specs.

-16GB Ram

-Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz   2.30 GHz

- Intel (R) UHD Graphics card, fully updated and mantained

Any help will be appreciated!

HI, I am not sure what you are asking so, are you saying the VIDEO on the timeline is now just Missing, or Blank area?

You say it is not working so do you mean when you click the play button the " Video element is not longer working" is just a still image but the audio plays normally?

I'm a VMS user but suspect this is the same in Pro - From the Options menu, untick Mute All Video if you have accidentally selected it.

So basically, I will put a video in the timeline and when I either render the video or play the preview, all that shows from the video is a black screen. For reference, it seems like I muted all of the visual tracks, but none of them are actually muted.

I wish it were that easy. Unfortunately, I had tried that already, and while it acts like the tracks are muted, they are not actually muted. I checked the button you referenced to be sure, but that is not the issue.

"If it worked before" you might at least try resetting. Follow the instructions exactly.

When you go to File - Render As, what format/preset are you choosing? Go to "customize" and look on the video tab and make sure "Include video" is checked.

Can you share a screenshot of the timeline?

Uncheck all the solo icons to make the tracks visible as usual.

@Robert-Kilkenny
How is this setting with you?
It must be totally shut off, so no colour.

This is what the app looks like. If I hit play, the screen that shows the preview is black. If I render the video in any resolution, it is black. If I move the screen that shows the preview, however, I can see what I am supposed to see. I don't understand why that is, but currently, that is the only way I can see the video. Also, in the media tab (where the media I import is), I can watch the videos with the visuals, so it isn't that they are corrupted.

Thanks for your screenshot. It is not the Preview Screen Button that could be selected.
No idea further for me.

VFR possible problem?

vkmast wrote on 4/22/2021, 12:27 PM

Did you try that reset?

Robert-Kilkenny wrote on 4/22/2021, 2:47 PM

@vkmast I couldn't get it to work at first, so I reinstalled the whole app then did the reset and it finally worked! Thank you for the help, even though I have no idea what that was. Here is to hoping it won't happen again.

vkmast wrote on 4/22/2021, 2:57 PM

Usually resetting fails due to ignoring something (point 2 and/or not deleting cache) in the instructions.

Thanks for confirming that it worked. Much appreciated.

Robert-Kilkenny wrote on 4/22/2021, 3:59 PM

@vkmast Nevermind, I still am having the issue. It only fixes the issue for about five minutes, and then the video freezes up. When I reload the app, the black screen is back. I guess there is some other issue that I need to fix first before I can fully fix it with a reset.
