Did it work before in your VEGAS Pro 17? Have you updated your build of VP 17 recently?

Dave-Conner wrote on 4/22/2020, 11:03 AM

Yes it worked fine in Win 7 until the latest update now it will not import MTS files. I am in the process of going back to 16. If I could get 17 before the update I would install that.

Try an earlier build of VP 17.

How do I find an earlier build? When I go to download it is always the latest build.

vkmast wrote on 4/22/2020, 11:29 AM

I added the link to my earlier comment.

@Dave-Conner,

I had the same issue. The release version of VP 17 and the !st patch of VP 17 worked fine with .MTS files. All patches after the 1st will NOT work with Win7. I uninstalled the latest version and reinstalled the first patch (don't remember the build number) and completed my project. I have since (in February 2020) upgraded from Win7 to Win10. I believe you can still do this for free as it was still a free process in February. It took my system about 4 hours and a couple of reboots but it went flawlessly. Good luck.

Windows 7 is not supported for VEGAS Pro 17.

In this case, we did have to make some changes that affected some flavors of MTS and these changes require Windows 10 in order for those MTS files to be read properly. If you are unable to upgrade to Windows 10, you will have to revert to a previous build.

We have made no secret about VEGAS Pro 17's support for only Windows 10.

Dave-Conner wrote on 4/22/2020, 2:09 PM

Before I upgraded to 17 I asked about what would I lose and I never got a response so I upgraded. I reverted back to the previous build and it seems to work. I need Win 7 to work with my Windows Home server properly.

I'll just live out my days with this build. It works and It is all I need...

Unfortunately, Windows 7 lacks the ability to do some of what 17 is doing now, and being that it is no longer supported by Microsoft, or the GPU manufacturers that make the drivers Vegas relies on to work, a move to only supporting Windows 10 is required. Otherwise, if a problem users may experience relies on a driver or windows update to fix it, there will be no way to solve that problem.

My mother - unfortunately already deceased - used to say:
"You can't have everything in life" - or:
"You can't bring all nine together"

Think about a second partition on which Windows 10 is installed.

Dave-Conner wrote on 4/23/2020, 5:49 AM

Good idea but I am happy that it is now working i do not need the latest upgrade just a working program.

vkmast wrote on 4/23/2020, 6:57 AM

@Dave-Conner glad you are able to continue with your VP 17 with the workaround suggested (twice) in this thread. 👍

Dave-Conner wrote on 4/23/2020, 7:18 AM

Yes it is up and running.....I can never upgrade but that is OK
