Your other activity besides of sitting in front of your Vegas Pro...

Love to know what activities (sport or physical activities) you do besides of just sitting in front of your computer looking at your Vegas Pro editor...

Currently I do short distance running (3-5km in a track), and probably will add Yoga once a week. Even a friend of mine noticing my body slouching a lot...

Perhaps someone like to share?

I watch the news and NBR with the TV sound muted and subtitles on with the hi-fi (K-horns) playing classic rock and roll. Most of the day is spent wood carving. In between is yardwork and beautification. My biggest use of Vegas is creating a black text picture on white background then taking a full snapshot and save as jpeg. (All the videos and slides shows have been completed a few years ago) The text has my name written in Lucida Handwriting, serial number and date with the name of the piece. Then I take the picture and import it into Meshcam Pro Art and convert to millimeters from about 1"x 3" then compute a solution in about 5 minutes of approximately 36,000 lines of "G-Code" which then imports to a G code CNC machine via USB Windows 7 to carve the text into wood. The ZEN machine takes about 5 hours to carve the text with a .6mm bit. Then I trim the wood and epoxy it into the bottom of the sandstone base which I have to carve a perfect square indent. The text is absolutely perfect. The rest is eating and sleeping and watching that tiny CNC do it's thing, it never makes a mistake.

much too late in life i've discovered that sitting for more than 2hrs in front of a screen in one sitting is simply asking for trouble. so from my research i have the following observations and suggestions:

a. get a proper pair of prescription spectacles for use with pc - that'll take care of eyestrain, neck ache, and that awful pain across the chest that feels like a heart attack coming on (this is most notable in people using multifocal glasses)

b. get up and simply walk around at a minimum every couple of hours - get the blood flowing and give your brain a break.

c. i bought a water rower and do 1000m twice a day, morning after getting up and mid afternoon

d. i also walk at least 2km a day - about 20mins straight. amazing how it clears your head

e. no snacking while working and i mean NO snacking at all.

i know too many old editors who are so f'ked that they're falling of the perch way too early.

That's a pretty fast walk---20 minutes for 2K. It takes me 40 minutes.

had to work my way upto it mind you... we also have a fast moving dog so it helped speed me / us up. with the wife it takes about 30mins. was told that the pace of a 'good' walk in company would be being able to have a reasonable conversation but not enough breath to sing ;-)

i'm hitting 70 and having been an indie most of my career so i still need to work (get a state pension but hey, i deserve a better lifestyle than it alone would support) so have to keep in reasonaby good condition for long shooting days and the like.

still, if i could trade in this body i would do - i think it's about 5 years past its use by date ;-(

Good advice from ushere, in fact from all of you there. As for besides sitting in front of my computer without my multifocal glasses, I irregularly take a walk of about 2.7 km in 35 minutes (which is pretty much what my Google Maps seems to expect), then sit tight 45 mins (+injury time). Then I stretch my legs for 15 mins until I spend another 45 mins (+injury time) sitting . I may be prompted to stand up during those 45 min (+injury time) periods, if there's enough action on the pitch. Then I take a return walk of about 2.7 km in 32 mins (more downhill going back). Pity they don't play more often, I'd need more walks :) About to hit as much as the poster above, remains to be seen how it goes.

Wow, ushere... at 70 but still able to walk around 10minute / Kilometer, that's really great... My walking speed is tracked around these number...
