It depends on what's in the container, m4V alone doesn't say much. I just used AVC M4V files today in VP 19.

Try posting media details- here are instructions:

I don't know what you mean by 'container' but the file is an iTunes movie file. All their TV and Movie Videos are a type M4V video.

From here: "5.  A CODEC, or COmpressor-DECompressor, is a specific method that was used to encode (create) your media files. There is one codec for the video, and one for the audio (if present), both of which are "wrapped" in the container file extension (see above). If you think that providing the file extension alone is enough information, think about that holiday when you were handed a wrapped package and asked to guess what was inside. Enough said about that!"

Great, now provide info for what's in the container using MediaInfo.

@MikeTe

"The M4V file format is a video container format developed by Apple and is very similar to the MP4 format. The primary difference is that M4V files may optionally be protected by DRM copy protection."

Yeah, I just found on line that Apple's video files are DRM protected, hence they won't load into Vegas. Apparently, there isn't any video converter that will convert a DRM protected file either. So, I'm out of luck. I don't understand Apple's attitude. We do have to buy the videos. But then we do buy Blu-ray Movies and most of them are protected.

Thanks to everyone here for your input. You guys really are helpful.
