Architect v4.5 replacement

John-Syers wrote on 11/5/2023, 6:13 AM

I have been a user of Sony Architect v4.5 for many years to create DVDs from rendered data generated from Sony Vegas Movie Studio v 9.0 and now understand Architect is no longer supported. Is there an alternative package to replace Architect to achieve the same results. I have both Windows v 7 & 11 available. Thanks, John

According to Wikipedia, this is the list of DVD/BD burning software:

The last versions of DVDA from Sony were 5.2 and 6, the latter being replaced by version 7 after MAGIX acquired the Vegas line of products. Version 7 was discontinued years ago. You might find 5.2/6/7 for sale privately online, but like anything online from unknown sources, "caveat emptor'.

@John-Syers the replacement has been discussed e.g. here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/best-alternative-to-dvd-architect-for-dvd-and-blu-ray--125846/

@John-Syers Have you tried patching your DVDA4.5 with 'Large Address Aware'? When patched, DVDA is capable of addressing 4Gb instead of the 2Gb limit of 32 bit applications.

I had much trouble using DVDA5 with out of memory errors on projects that had many titles. After patching, I had none.
That was on Win10. I'm now on Win11 and haven't created any DVDA projects since, so I'm not sure that it will still work with this OS. It's worth a try. LAA has an option to 'unpatch' if it doesn't work for you.
