Any time I would like to use Sony Vegas 18, I have to deal with this mess. This will appear with the Effects, Transitions, Media etc tabs. How can I fix this?
Okay I'm going to come right out and say that some of the previous responses from the moderators have been the most unhelpful I've ever had the opportunity of reading. Proper forum etiquette when answering a question would be to link or quote a solution rather than just blurting the name of software. I had never heard of Nahimic before today, let alone what to do with it. If you're going to answer question, you need to be willing to put some effort into your answers as there are likely newbies who are going to need some pointers now and again. This isn't Stack Overflow.
Also, there is absolutely no need for the nitpicking about terminology. While I can admit I was ignorant of the terminology, it did nothing to help find a solution to my problem and seems it only served to be an opportunity to beat ones chest about how much they knew. Seeing as this is not a problem that is linked to one version or build, the above comment was completely unnecessary.
Lastly, if you're still reading this, yes I will follow my own advice and I have enclose a quote with the solution about how to solve this graphical bug. This is a short explanation, on how to disable Nahimic (which seems to be the problem software) as well as how to disable it from starting upon reboot as it starting up will just start mess all over again.
Thank you Etc. for pointing this out. I've just disabled Nahimic and will see how it goes.
Just stopping Nahimic in Task Manager/Services is not enough as it starts running again on rebooting the computer. To properly disable Nahimic, R click NahimicService in Services and then select Open Services. A new window opens. R click Nahimic service and click on Properties in the window that opens. In the context box that then opens, select Disabled in the Startup type field, then hit the Stop button and click Apply and OK. All done. Nahimic now remains disabled on rebooting the computer.
^This is how you answer a question. If you're not willing to put in effort to answering someone's question then don't bother.
Not sure why you're complaining when you got the hint that led to your solution. Would you prefer a user to say nothing until they have the time to type a complete answer with links? You'd still be sitting there waiting for an answer in that case.
The Sony/Magix incorrect naming comes up daily here. It's not as if someone withheld an answer to your question because you called it the wrong name.
Regarding the "Sony" Vegas issue: This innocent mistake happens frequently, and the correction always seems super pedantic and nit-picky, but it basically is a legal issue.
When Sony sold Vegas to Magix, Magix had to immediately discontinue using the name "Sony" in any way -- even removing it from internal software references. Since this is a Magix forum, they have to be very, very vigilant about enforcing that break -- they can't let it slide. (You don't want a big, powerful corporation coming after you!)
So I'm guessing that the moderators are instructed to correct every misuse of the Sony name, no matter how innocent, in order to protect Magix. It always comes across as overly picky and pedantic, and maybe the responses are a bit terse and could be a little more friendly, but it's basically a legal obligation to make that correction.
