Burning a dual layer dvd without menus

Vegas movie studio 16 Platinum...

**** How do I make multiple copies onto a dual layer DVD without Menus? *****

I have about a 5 gig video. so I purchased dual layer dvd's.

I can " Make Movie" from vegas movie, but it wants to render it every time, which is time consuming. I need multiple copies.

When I try to burn a single dvd with Architect, it is asking to insert chapter markers, which i'm guessing it thinks its too large for the dvd??

I'm also not finding the previously rendered projects?

A Dual Layer DVD requires at least one chapter mark. This is the point that the layer will switch. It uses the chapter mark. This is DVD requirement, not just DVDA. Is your video in a DVD format? DVDs require MPEG video and either PCM or AC3 audio. You should have templates in Movie Studio specifically for DVDs.

I'm guessing that Movie studio must automatically insert the chapter mark when burning from it?

The video I'm trying to use in architect is an MP4. and set it to automatically set the chapter marker.

I am trying it again, so will see what happens.

Is it correct that when using my MP4 video in Architect, that it needs to Render every time I try to burn a dvd? This has happened several times. Maybe I am not using the already rendered file that was created in Architect the last time I tried to burn this same video?

MP4 files are not part of the Blu-ray specs so they will always be re-rendered. If you are editing your video in Vegas Movie Studio, export using compatible Blu-ray streams and re-rendering will be avoided.

They are also not part of the DVD spec. DVDs require MPEG files.

If you prepare the project to VIDEO_TS file structure you can burn that with ImgBurn and imgburn will do the layer break for you without any chapter markers. Try that.

I did this last with a blu ray ISO i prepared in DVDA7 and imgburn did the layerbreak for me. It should probably do it with the DVD file structure, even without ISO.

Note that the OP has VMS 16 Platinum, the purchase of which still included DVD Architect 7. to "Prepare" the project to a specified folder.

Doug, I successfully burnt my video with Architect. I had to drag my chapter marker to midway in my project. When I let it place it automatically, It didnt like it and would not finish the burn, so this should work for me.

Eric, Doug,-- I am not burning blueray, just dvd. So I will adjust how I will try and prepare. " mpeg", but the mp4 file I had did render and burnt from Movie studio , but required a Render each time.

Teagan,-- I will look into this.

VK---I think that is correct, but so far havent figured how to burn a new disc from that file. I see it in the tree in the bottom left corner of the page, but it doesnt want to work in Architect, but its probably operator error.

Thanks for all the input.

I was wrong, I did not burn a successfull video. It only burnt the first chapter, so I still havent figured it out??

I would suggest downloading IMGBURN software as Teagan recommended. Then follow his instructions.

Greg-Beach wrote on 2/16/2021, 12:54 PM

I successfully burnt my dvd. Thanks for all the input. IMGBURN actually allowed me to burn to a standard dvd instead of the dual layer, but I did both just for testing.

The dual DVD didnt seem to like it when I tried to fast forward it to see if it was all there when playing, but I think it would just play just fine.

Is the correct FORMAT when rendering in Vegas to use in IMGBURN:: ---Main Concept MPEG2, with a

TEMPLATE,----DVD Architect NTSC widescreen video stream.????

It worked but there are soooo many choices that I am not really sure its 100% correct?

It seems endless on what there is to know about all this software.

Thanks.

The advice below is a bit old and forgets to mention e.g. the Widescreen option, but you should get the general idea.
