Cannot register Suite v13 with Magix

john-s wrote on 10/14/2016, 5:38 AM

HI, I downloaded this from Magix site because of the offer of version 14 next February - even though I'd just bought a version via Amazon that doesn't have that offer!  However, while both versions activated ok, neither will register on the Magix site.  This is a problem because the downloaded version didn't have all components, missing NewBlue and Boris, so in effect it's just Studio and not Suite version.  Support says log in to 'My Products' for a new download link which isn't possible without registered products!!!  Chicken and egg...  any ideas?

I suggest you try this solution posted here:

I don't think you understand - as I wrote, it activates ok and is useable, but I can't register my software with Magix. To quote Magix support,

The former SCS products do not register with the MAGIX web site, as they still activate using the same method they did when owned by Sony.

Because I can't register it, I can't get updates for it or download the missing programs that I should have been able to download (I purchased the special offer Movie Suit v13 + v14 but only received Movie Studio).  I'm not holding my breath for the promised 'Free copy of Movie Suit v14 when it's released in February' either.  Has anyone else had similar issues?

If it's the v13 product you may still be able to register it at http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/ until Magix gets around to migrating everything across.

john-s wrote on 10/14/2016, 4:02 PM

Hi Clive, I'll try that but don't hold out much hope, as I received this from Magix support after I first reported the problem:

'The installer has been fixed to include all of the third party products.  To re-download the installer, log onto your MAGIX.com account.  Then click MyProduct, and re-download the installer for the software on that page.'

I logged into my Magix account, but until I can register my product with Magix there is nothing in My Products!!

Hi john-s
Please tell me ALL the components/extras you have been able to download.
List everything you have.
I may be able to help you out, once I get a reply from you.

Derek

Hi Derek,

The download included:

Main 64 bit program v13, plus the pdf manual

DVD archtect Studio 5

iZotope vocal eraser and iZotope Audio Enhancer

Acid Music Studio 10, plus pdf manual

Sound Forge Audio Studio 10, plus pdf manual

.........

Does this make it Studio or Platinum? I'm not sure but certainly not Suite as it's missing the New Blue Titler and Boris Effects, yet the download links state 'VEGAS Movie Studio 13 Suite'

Thaks in anticipation,

John

Here is the complete list of ALL files that Sony use to provide for what you purchased, which is Vegas Movie Studio 13 Suite. The main thing you are missing is 3.18 GBs of Music Loops & Samples that are meant to be included with Acid Music Studio 10. This is too big for me to upload to my drop box. I am shocked that Magix can't organise something so simple. It's not rocket science.

I have sent you a private message with links to download NBFX and BorisFX.

vkmast wrote on 10/15/2016, 12:53 PM

Just to confirm, did you log on to your SCS account and go to My Account > My Orders to check if there was anything there (as suggested)?

john-s wrote on 10/15/2016, 4:47 PM

First, my thanks to Derek for the downloads which I will load shortly and look forward to trying out.

Secondly, I have now looked in my SCS account as suggested by vkmast and the two copies of Movie Studio Platinum do appear there (one bought from Amazon, one downloaded. But the Borif FX and New Blue Titler do not which isn't really surprising as they're not native Sony programs.  So thanks again to Derek, and we'll see what happens in February because, as I originally wrote, the main reason for the Magix purchase was the promise of the free version 14.  We'll see.

john-s wrote on 10/15/2016, 4:53 PM

And another thing - clicking on the Free Updates link on the SCS My Software page doesn't give me an update, it directs my to the Magix site.  But as my software isn't registered there, I can't download any updates.  Bum.

vkmast wrote on 10/15/2016, 5:01 PM

john-s, did you look at "My Orders" and found nothing there?

john-s wrote on 10/16/2016, 6:30 AM

The software appears to be registered correctly on the SCS site, but cannot be registered on the Magix site.   There's no 'My Orders' option on the Magix site, just My Registered products with 'You Have No Registered Products'.  Maybe it will at some future date if they transfer the data across.  I tried the support number - it seems to be a Skype number connecting to Germany, with an impossibly long waiting time so I'm afraid I gave up on it. Support emails are answered after a few days but so far no positive outcome.

vkmast wrote on 10/16/2016, 7:10 AM

Thanks for your answer, john-s. Actually I'm still wondering (as My Software is another page) if you "logged on to your SCS account and go to My Account > My Orders" there to check if there was anything there. I guess there is not if you bought it from Az. I just would like you to confirm that.

Quitter wrote on 10/16/2016, 9:14 AM

If you bought it from Magix or Amazon or...
There is no entry at My Orders, only at My Software (if you registered)
It would have been better to buy the DVD version instead of the download version, as long as the additional downloads are not provided by Magix.

Hi vkmast - I have looked in My Orders on the SCS site, and there's nothing there, but the Sony programs do appear in My Software, including the copy downloaded from Magix.

Hi Quitter - you're right, and I guess the programs appear there because I activated them.  As I wrote before, the only reason I downloaded the copy from Magix was in the hope of receiving v14 in February.  I'm in the UK so downloading from the US site (where the special offer was posted) was my only option.

Quitter wrote on 10/17/2016, 12:29 AM

If you purchased the 13 +14 offer, you should receive a mail if 14 is released
nevertheless, you should save your mails 😉

Hooray, and credit where it's due, Magx have ported over te registraton deails from the SCS site.  Studio 13, ACID Music, DVD Architect and Sound Forge now registered and re-installed.  But can't do New Blue 3D Titler or BorisFX, which come as 'no serial number required'. I had hoped there would be a complete re-download link for my Movie Studio Suite but there isn't, just the progs I was able to register in SCS

vkmast wrote on 11/13/2016, 2:01 PM

john-s, see http://download.sonymediasoftware.com/current/extras/ for mss13-bcc8units .

Get the NB Titler from here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/new-blue-plugin-s-for-ms13--96413/#ca582750

I'm having the very same issue.  I purchased Movie Studio 13 SUITE during the time that the special was going on, buy 13 now and then get 14 later.  BUT I also have not received a download link or serial number for the NewBlue 3D titles plugin or the BorisFX plugin.

I have contacted Magix support but they keep giving me the run around that I only have the Platinum version.  I have purchased the SUITE version and it even shows that on my receipt.  I also received the "extra" programs that come with the SUITE version which are Sound Forge and ACID Music Studio!  Had I not purchased the SUITE version I would not have gotten these extra programs.

Its my understanding that whether you buy the SUITE Version or the Platinum version, the actual Movie Studio program is the same.  The only difference is what is bundled with the SUITE version.

My father purchased his own copy of the Suite version also to get in on the deal of buy 13 now and get 14 for free, and he also did not receive download links or serial numbers for NewBlue or BorisFX. Looks like this is an epidemic problem with everyone who purchased the digital download version.  I will only purchase the box version from now because my guess is that ALL files and serial numbers are included in the box version disc.

Im so frustrated with Magix right now and I'm not sure what else to do at this point.  This is fraudulent and unacceptable and Magix needs to get their act together!!!

Now I'm starting to wonder if I will even see the "free" version 14 when it comes out??

Holentheday wrote on 11/14/2016, 10:48 AM

John-s,  did they fix the link so it now includes NewBlue and Boris, or you were just able to register your software on the Magix site??

Dr Zen wrote on 11/14/2016, 10:59 AM

@Holentheday

I don't know what the hell is going on with Magix and the delivery of Vegas products, but there seems to be something terribly wrong. Magix support seems to be completely unaware of what is actually included with Vegas Movie Studio 13 Suite. I am going to email my contact at Magix directly and see if I can sort this out for everyone, but before I do, I want to make sure exactly what you do have and don't have.

I bought the download version from Sony over 2 years ago.
I am worried that you may be missing more than just the NBFX and Boris FX.

Here is the complete list of everything that is included.
Can you please tell me which items you have not received download links for and activation codes ?
Items 1, 2, 3 & 4 are all music samples and are mainly for use with Acid Music Studio.
Item 5 is video tutorials and everything else is program files.

1. loops_and_songs.zip (1.1 GB)
2. soundsets_and_songs.zip (630 MB)
3. sound_sampler.zip (1.4 GB)
4. soundeffects.zip (194 MB)
5. audiostudio10_tutorials (585 MB)
6. audiostudio10.0.252.exe
7. dvdarchitectstudio5.0.186.exe
8. moviestudiope13.0.942_32bit.exe
9. moviestudiope13.0.955_64bit.exe
10. mss13-bcc8units.exe
11. musicstudio10.0.99.exe

13. sfas10_audioenhancer.exe
14. sfas10_vocaleraser.exe
15. studiodevil_britishvalve.exe
16. truepianos_amberlite.exe

*You need activation codes for items 6, 7, 8/9, 11, 12, 13 & 14
**You don't need activation codes for items 10, 15 & 16

I will check it out this evening as soon as I get home from work and let you know.

Thank you!

john-s wrote on 11/14/2016, 4:34 PM

John-s,  did they fix the link so it now includes NewBlue and Boris, or you were just able to register your software on the Magix site??

Well not exactly, but vkmast's link takes you to all the software that was missing.  The Magix link only takes me to programs I was able to register which rules out New Blue and Boris as they don't register to Sony so wouldn't show up. Early days though, the Sony register has only just gone across to Magix so possibly things may change.  In the meanime, I have reloaded progs from the DVD copy of 13 Suite I bought from Amazon; I only bought the download copy on the promise of the 'free' upgrade to version 14.
