Card Flip Effect for image? Cant seem to do this.

devon-kelley wrote on 12/20/2022, 9:49 AM

Good Morning!

I have an image of a card that I would like to have flipped over to show the content. It would start face down with the back facing up, then flip to reveal itself. I managed to use the PiP fx to place it where I would like it but when I tried using the 3d blind transition, that flips the entire screen and not just the image.

Would anyone know how I could do this?

You can use track motion. In the drop down menu, choose 3D source alpha, you'll see all the 3 axis in which you can manipulate the image in space.

Keyframe the opening motion from image 1 ( the cover ) to the horizontal or vertical point where the card has almost disappeared, then keyframe the reverse motion with image 2 (the inside of the card) to simulate the flip / opening. You can either use the same track for the images or use 2 different tracks.

Where would I find track motion?

fr0sty wrote on 12/20/2022, 10:38 AM

It's in the menu accessed on the left side of each track. Make sure you set the composite mode to "3D Source Alpha".

Mine just says "Source Alpha" not "3d Source Alpha". Is that going to be an issue?

No problem with me:

If you move the image off-center it won't produce the desired effect. If you have it on the bottom right, for example.

Repositioning can be done by Trackmotion or using PIPFX again as TrackFX:
