Thanks for your comment. It's a shame. That is like a basic thing to have and, they dropped?
I an new with MAGIX. DO you know if they have something like a request for a feature?

vkmast wrote on 4/2/2017, 10:45 AM

They have kind of promised more contrast. Read also this comment and this article.

I agree about the need for an option for the color scheme. This is one of the reasons I am not upgrading to MVMSP14 for the time being.

Unfortunately they don't.

SJR wrote on 4/10/2017, 9:14 AM

I agree, I find the scheme too dark .Surely it is possible to have an option to change it.

MNightengale wrote on 10/13/2017, 3:04 AM

OMG... I JUST upgraded from Sony Movie Studio Platinum '12 to Vegas Movie Studio Suite '14. Blech! The interface is way too dark (no contrast) and all of the wording is fuzzy, as if slightly out of focus. VERY hard to read. And no, it is *NOT* ok that they took away the option to tun the interface scheme from dark to light. I had that option in '12...

I cannot tell you how much I hate requesting refunds. It's such a huge hassle. And people can sure take my money instantly, but it takes 7-10 days to get a refund! :( But I'm off to request a refund. This will be just too hard on my eyes...

And since I can't wait another year until '15 is introduced, I'm switching to Camtasia. I've been getting A LOT of ads and emails to buy Camtasia, but since my previous movie projects were done in Sony Movie Studio, I didn't want to switch. Switching to a new software is also a hassle. But being unable to see an interface well is also a hassle.

This is incredibly frustrating. Please do not do this to your loyal users!!

Michelle

@MNightengale It's a pity you missed this:

If MAGIX don't mind, maybe that suggestion should be pinned...

Nick,

You're right. :/ But I really liked Sony Movie Studio 12 and just assumed... (Yes, I know.)

Because I used and liked it before with no issues and got a special customer upgrade price, I just went for it. Lesson learned.

But now I'm stuck waiting for a refund...

Let's be realistic, and reasonable. When upgrading from one version to another how many users would consider a trial necessary. They are already familiar with the software and expect a newer version to be an improvement on what they already have, not a backward step. Trial versions are of most use for complete newcomers to the Vegas range.

MNightengale wrote on 10/13/2017, 4:58 AM

P.S. Fortunately, I checked before upgrading to the next version of Camtasia... Turns out their users are ticked off about a very dark interface in the latest version too!

https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/adjust-the-ui-color-contrast

So guess I'll be sticking with older versions of Sony Movie Studio 12 and Camtasia 8.6 for now.

Fortunately, SnagIt is still great and I have the option of switching to a light UI, which is what I do. They're starting to push SnagIt 2018's upcoming release. Hopefully, they don't screw that up too!

You could continue using MS12. MS15 is probably not far away and hopefully will include UI options like recently released Pro15.

MNightengale wrote on 10/13/2017, 5:04 AM

@EricLNZ, that's exactly what I'm going to do! :)

vkmast wrote on 10/13/2017, 5:14 AM

I beg to disagree with EricLNZ for once here :). Remember the outcry about the UI when Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 came out? I've used only MSP versions 10 to 14 and have not once had the courage to upgrade without using the trials. That and the forum discussions have helped to jump onto the new version only when some updates have been released fixing many of the inevitable initial bugs. Examples are e.g. VMS 14 P and several last versions of SVPro. Buyer should still beware.

MNightengale wrote on 10/13/2017, 5:23 AM

I take your point. And I agree. Which is why I generally don't upgrade right away after any big new release. (My iPhone is still on iOS 10.3.3 even though Apple released iOS 11 over a week ago.) I wait for X.0.1...or X.0.7 before I update. ;)

So yes, I wait to upgrade a bit, but I generally don't download a trial version of whatever. But as I said... I've learned my lesson...

vkmast wrote on 10/13/2017, 5:41 AM

@MNightengale I was not going to upgrade to VMS 14 P at all for exactly the same reason you mentioned but this comment from a Magix dev made me change my mind. Maybe I'm too soft-hearted that way;)

EricLNZ wrote on 10/13/2017, 5:49 AM

Vkmast - the difference is we are regular visitors to this and other forums so were aware of the disquiet over MS13 and MS14. With both I downloaded a trial to see how 'bad' the problems were. But if I weren't a regular visitor I could easily have updated like Michelle did.

Anyway we now all await MS15 so we can download a trial and hopefully have an interface that's more easy on the eyes.

Does anyone know if there is a watermark on rendered video in the VMS trials? There wasn't one for a version or 2 of the VP trial, but there is now in the VP15.

I will pin a post about this when I have an answer to this question. Please nudge me if I forget, vkmast 😊

EricLNZ wrote on 10/14/2017, 2:32 AM

There was no watermark in VMS14 Plat rendered video when I downloaded it earlier this year but the situation may have since changed (like the EULA and phoning home!)

richard-ruggiero wrote on 2/15/2018, 8:08 AM

Wow, I just updated to Version 14 of Movie Studio Platinum and was shocked to learn that only the pro version has the ability to change color preferences. Whoever thought that everyone would love black on dark grey should be talked to. Not everyone has a completely dark editing room. I am planning to seek a refund and look elsewhere. Is this just simply a ploy to squeeze as much money out of a customer as possible. They actually had this feature and then removed it. Unbelievable!

vkmast wrote on 2/15/2018, 8:14 AM

@richard-ruggiero did you miss the MSP 14 + 15 upgrade offer, which has been on for at least several weeks now? It's very probable v 15 will allow customizing the interface similar to VPro 15. This offer would "squeeze" about $40 out of a(n upgrading) customer for the two versions.

richard-ruggiero wrote on 2/15/2018, 8:41 AM

I chose the v14 update from a prior version and I think that I paid enough so that when I edit video I can actually see the timecodes I am working on. Asking for another 40 bucks to get a feature that was in past versions and very necessary is the very definition of nickel and diming
