Customizing Workspace

This isn't serious but if someone could offer help I'd appreciate it. Is there a way to change the look of the effect, transition, and media generator windows in Movie Studio Platinum 16? In Movie studio 15 plat the windows would have a list of categories I could scroll down with thumbnails on the side. I upgraded to 16 plat and now everything is just a clump of thumbnails. It just feels less organized. If there is a way to change the view to something similar to this advice would be greatly appreciated. The first image is from 15 and the second is from 16.

You might try to work around this by using the Plug-in Chooser.

Thank you. This may sound a little ridiculous to ask. Where would the plug in chooser be? I've looked about everywhere in movie studio 16 and haven't seen anything that even has the words "plug-in" in it, let alone plug-in chooser

Clicking the "fx" icon gives you the VideoFX Plug-in Chooser window. For "Media FX", right- click on a clip in Project media window to see the option. For Media generators right-click on an empty area of a text/video track to see Insert Generated Media option which gives you "Plug-in Chooser - New Media Generator". For Transitions Plug-in Chooser try and find a place on the overlapped area to right-click and see Transition > Insert other... in the opening menu.

Did you try "The Hamburger" menu?

@j-v I forgot to mention about that as the Gen. Media button shows only after you have added one of them. The MediaFX button of course shows in v16.

@vkmast
We commented nearly the same time and after I placed it I saw mine was a good addition to yours so I let it as it was.....😉

This new "simplified" feature irritates many of us. I was hoping the recent update would have reverted to how the windows used to be.

If developers are watching could we please have an indication of whether this is, or will be, receiving attention. Or are we just stuck with it?😞

Of interest could a Pro user please tell me if Vegas Pro 17 has this unhelpful "simplified" arrangement.

vkmast wrote on 9/8/2019, 6:59 PM

@EricLNZ no, it does not have that.

EricLNZ wrote on 9/8/2019, 7:07 PM

@vkmast Thanks. I guessed not as otherwise it would have caused much debate in the Pro forum. I note in a MovieStudioZen thread that one user is so annoyed by the new arrangement that they've requested a refund.
