error code -5

Just downloaded Vegas Studio 17 and all went find. Copied/Pasted the Serial Number from the email I received and got "green check marks" in the boxes. However, when I go to run the program I get an error code -5, "no license to use this software".

When I go back to VEGAS/Magix/Sony's (whoever they are) website, I cannot register the product with the serial number in the email as "this license is already used". I've tried to find a way to contract Support in real time (even just chat), but apparently they've taken invisibility to a new level.

Anyone have experience with this silliness?

Ask Support starts here. Ignore the FAQs and click on until you get to send/submit Support request.

Online Live Chat advice here section 6.

"Please note that versions 14 and later come from VEGAS Creative Software."

With an error like that, you should consider uninstalling the software, redownload it and install it again.
