GUI Display

Once I've hidden the docking/preview windows and have a full window view of the timeline I cannot return to view the preview window without clicking options, then preferences, then display, then uncheck auto hide docking area.

Is there a quicker way? I've double clicked above every "splitter" line I can find to no avail. as mentioned in the manual.

Have you tried double-clicking on the splitter line? Or pressing F11?

ALT+D then D returns display to defaults.

OR, under VIEW > WINDOWS LAYOUTS you can save your preferred view(s) to one of nine shortcuts under SAVE LAYOUT AS...

Save your layout as it is before you move/hide a window and then use the shortcut to get it back the way you like.

Note that Alt+D unchecks your Options/Prefs./Display: Automatically hide docking area, if you had it checked before.

And, online Help says: "If the Display timeline at bottom of main window check box is also selected, double-click the splitter above the timeline to make the docking area visible again."
(Not "above the splitter")

Oops. Feeling right dum. Unchecking "display timeline at bottom of window" was the trick. Now single click above timeline (now at top of window) brings up full screen timeline for editing. Hovering at the bottom of window brings back video and docking area.

Thanks for the tips folks. Great software, not a problem with user interface, problem with user!
