Since you seem to just want the answer and don’t want to help us solve your problem, I’ll just give you the answer.

When recording in OBS, use a video and audio codec that Vegas Pro can decode. There are billions and billions of them.

Its vegas not OBS, the file works in other programs

Former user wrote on 3/17/2018, 11:47 AM

Doesn't matter what works in other programs, if you want it to work in Vegas, it needs to meet certain standards. VKMast is pointing you to those standards.

Hi John, Recording in mkv should be OK because OBS can remux that file to mp4.

The reason I record to mkv is if the program or PC crashes the video file is still saved up to that point and can be remuxed to an mp4. If the recording is in mp4 and a crash happens then the mp4 is lost.

chards, you may want to try and adjust your Output, Recording, Encoder to x264 rather than NVENC x264 and see if that works better.

You can also try and record directly to mp4 format and test.

I just tested my screen capture while writing this and it imported into Vegas Pro 12 fine. The screen capture was recorded to mkv and remuxed to mp4. I'm using OBS 21.0.1 (which is the best version yet imho) (:

Here are my record settings:

I’m sorry I should have mentioned, my bad;

I record in mp4, as Vegas wont accept mkv for me.

ByronK wrote on 3/17/2018, 5:21 PM

Yes, Vegas does not accept mkv, which is why you'll have to go to File, Select: Remux Recordings and remux (convert) the mkv file to mp4.
