I did try that before posting, and again after your reply, but the resulting menu looks the same as that on the regular Preferences tab. Now what could I be doing wrong?
Do you go to Preferences in the Options menu and hold down Shift as you click on Preferences? You should then see the Internal tab, which shows the hidden Preferences. See the screengrabs from VMS 15 below. For comparison, "Regular" is included.
Yes, I tried that, and with both shift keys. I could not get anything other than the standard menu. Strange? On a previous version of VMS it worked fine.
I'd like to look at them all, to see what is applicable. Looking at the screenshot posted by vkmast above, there are at least two items on the first tab alone. I can probably live without them, but I'd like to optimize the software.
@Eagle Six both options mentioned in my screenshot from the "Vegas Pro 11 Editing Workshop" book (2012) by Douglas Spotted Eagle are available in my Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum. Besides VMS 15, I did not test in other versions.

But the screenshot you gave there
is of the plain Studio version. The Platinum version has a lot more options in "Options" 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉👍

@vkmast the reason I asked is, I wanted to add this to the hints and tricks I keep, but....looking at your post instructions, I missed the blank space and was clicking on the blank space of a loaded track! When I right click on an empty space in the header display area, I get the Preference option. Thank You and to Douglas Spotted Eagle.
As you know, "VMS 15" should be used to refer to the basic version (even though unfortunately it is not always the case). I took the OP's mention of his software at face value and thought it relevant for him to include a screenshot from VMStudio 15. You may not be surprised to learn that I know "The Platinum version has a lot more options in "Options"." 🙃
Re @Eagle Six's comment, please see his own explanation above.

You've a big task looking at them all. I suspect there are hundreds of items. Actually around 850 at a quick count. Think twice about altering any of them. Although if you stuff things up each one shows its default value that you can type in. Also I suspect a Ctrl+Shift restart would reset everything.
I was powerdirector user from version 13 up to 15. Earlier this year, I switched to vmsp 15 years because it has a better interface and in some cases a better video quality. Only in this post of you who were discussing the issue of configurations, I was able to find an option that I was looking for from the beginning, to do not load the video when rendering to speed up the process and I found it here! very good!

Makes no sense at all, rendering speed is exactly the same, with or without preview. Even setting the preview from every 5 frames to every frame has no influence on rendering speed.
