Is this really legit or a spam scam.

Legit....Got directly to the hitfilm.com website and look at the bottom right of the screen (under social).

I doubt many on this forum will have any problems for system requirements; but, just in case, don't overlook the minimum system requirements to run Hitfilm 2 Express - in particular:

Minimum Open GL version must be 2.0
Minimum Open GLSL version must be 1.2
and your monitor must be running with minimum True Color 32 bit

Plus,

The (minimum) render buffer size available must be 4096
and 'Frambuffer' and 'multisampling' must be supported.

If nothing else it shows why Movie Studio is so much better.

I soon hit a snag "AC3 audio is not supported in this free version" You need to upgrade to Ultimate at $299. I don't think I'll bother.

Could be useful for adding some video effects here and there though. It includes some kind of transfer feature to link with Studio 12.

As Paul says, right-clicking the timeline event in v12 gives an option to add effect/ edit in HitFilm. I don't see that direct link in v13.

Thanks Cornico, it added that link.

Cheers Cornico, it now works in 13 too as you say. There are a few nice effects in there so well worth the effort.

I dont see why I cant have sound though - I must have paid for an AC3 codec license many times over. However the video goes over to HitFilm and back again leaving the audio unaffected so thats ok.

I got my free copy today and have been playing with it. So far, so good. Looks to be quite powerful and can be called by right clicking on a video clip in the timeline.
