If any of the relevant forum searches re audio distortion don't seem to bring up helpful threads or any of the forum users cannot help here, try the official VEGAS Support (not the sony vegas one). (Ref. CR 2.3 and 2.4.)
There may be a workaround with the legacy AVC or HEVC decoder in options/preferences/file io or you may need to convert it for use in VEGAS with a free tool like ShutterEncoder or Handbrake. It may also have been addressed in updates after 20 (21 had many audio fixes).
@EricLNZ That I didn't notice and assumed it was new. @Former user Please create new threads with your findings of decoding issues, especially if they are for a version of VEGAS that is different from a thread with a related issue (I assume you aren't testing it with VP 20).
@RogerS Yes I also wondered why UltraVista had posted on an old thread. Perhaps he also didn't notice it was old. It's a trap we all easily fall into!

There's no need to start a new thread, I was trying to keep the video file while converting the audio from opus to AAC, I had a look at the mediainfo for the mkv, says 3.5fps and is variable when it should be constant. Files are likely corrupted/sick due to the approach I took
@Former user Unless you are testing video from the OP, it's hijacking the original thread. Create your own thread and specify the version of VEGAS you are testing.
