Importing mp4 or wav files with VP15 freezes in file explorer

TC Phil wrote on 11/19/2020, 8:08 AM

When I attempt to import a wav or mp4 file into the project media bin, file explorer freezes. I can still move my mouse and go to other folders but Vegas just freezes and after about 5 mins the file explorer window goes away but the file is not imported. My system specs are AMD Ryzen 7-3700X; GPU Radeon RX 5700XT on windows 10. One recommendation online says to remove the compoundplug.dll file from the FileIO Plugins folder. Another said to disable the compoundplug folder. Both methods didn't work for me.

Has anyone faced the same issue and found a solution? Appreciate some help here. There's no way to reach any direct tech support from the Magix or Vegascreativesoftware websites

From which location do you try to import to Project Media?

It is possible to submit a support ticket, FYI. It's just a bit hidden.

I don't think you want to delete any plugins- put them back as they are needed to decode files. You could try resetting Vegas (control-shift on start-up- forget it this worked in 15, though). You are on the final patch to VP 15?

A user-created tutorial here.

There is also a pinned post on OffTopic, but I guess the stickies get pretty much ignored.

BTw, the full resetting instructions

Thanks for all your replies and help. I ran the Magix PC Check & Tuning app and it showed an error to my license number. This is strange since my license shows correctly in the About page in VP15. I do have the latest Build 416. I don't think the problem is with the files I'm trying to import because I've been running VP for about a month on my new PC without this particular problem. I have submitted a support ticket (thanks for the tip on how to do that)

Resetting Vegas was the answer. Thank you so much for the tip. Thanks also to everyone who came in with other suggestions

@TC Phil
It would be better to mark Roger's contribution as a solution than your own.

@walter-i. - It was me who change the solution mark previously... - but after reread - you are right, RogerS' comment is better answer.
